  1. Yea and they have busted our chops a few times...as well as other towers I know. The one day I had to have my buddy tow my rollback out of there back to PA because it had Repair Towing tags...
  2. Got a call the other day for a loaded Propane "Bobtail" truck that broke down on the interstate. They wanted it towed to NJ so we gave a price and took the job. I have to go through a scale/DOT as soon as I cross over the border, and figured they would stop me for sure with a gas truck so I made sure everything was in order. When I got on scene, it seemed they left a crucial fact out of the description... Cap came apart and tore up the fender & suspension. Now this changes things...So I explain that I can rear tow it, my truck is capable...I just can't do it legally. Oh,...and wherever it goes, it won't be New Jersey. I explained that in no way would I rear tow a 1/2 loaded propane truck in to the scales where I could be crucified ...LoL They agreed and I towed it to a location about 30 miles away.
  3. This is going to be something a little different... We started the project this week and it should be ready in about 2 weeks. Eddie found it in Rhode Island and trailered it home...1954 Ford Ran like a top but we pulled the 223 6cyl out and installed a "Big Box" in it. Stay tuned for more pics to follow...
  4. Nice ride, best of luck with it.
  5. They were good units, just had to be disciplined with the boom. You get that stick out there and they were easy to bend.....
  6. Thank you for the article! I got a call from a friend of mine congratulating me and I didn't know what he was talking about? Then I opened my mail and saw the spread.
  7. Meanwhile I'm sure there are guys out there that would love to have it...that was a sellable truck.
  8. Do you need an Union affiliation to work on the Pier? I could just feel some "hassle" that comes with that work unless you "Got a Guy"...
  9. Just some jobs I have done recently... POS MTRH from one storage area to another... Farm tractor with the Dump Truck & Trailer... Unit to the shop for repairs... Kenworth w/ a blown rear... Moving junk... KW to the dealer for De-rate issues. Swap to NJ Another Peterbilt to the dealer for De-rate issues...
  10. Yea it looks like that LF tire is trying to occupy the same space as the guy's feet....The tree didn't move.
  11. Had my guys pick this one up at Mecum Auctions in Harrisburg this morning.... "FreeBe" job though since this ones coming home....LoL 67 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible, Commando 383 Auto w/ 51,000 miles.
  12. Our thoughts & prayers are with the families of Herring Motors.....
  13. Getting old....i literally have no recollection of this job? LoL
  14. From September 2009: Phil & I did this one the other morning. It was a little uncommon being a reefer pup and had 6,000 in the nose. The jockey pulled it away from the door & unhooked as per their policy. As soon as he pulled out from under it, it plummeted to the ground. It has a front stand but it went too quickly. The trailer was like 2 weeks old and the driver told me it was the second time it had happened! Sorry, no recovery pics but right after we arrived, the big bosses & district safety manager came out to see the commotion. Trying to work quickly & efficiently! The job took less then 15 min and we cradled the whole trailer with a strap to eliminate putting any scratches in it. Once up they put two trailer stands under it so I could get out of the way and back a power unit under it. The only damage was 1 landing gear foot was slightly bent.
  15. I use these in my truck, they work good...
  16. Well the irony is you can't get to the shaft typically because the exhaust is in the way, they run the pipes directly underneath it..... So I said when I got there...well you can get to it now...LoL We ordered a new spindle yesterday, should have it fixed by tomorrow.
  17. A job from over the weekend. Customer was driving through a private community and bottomed out on a road plate set up at a bridge crossing. Their dispatch told us that the exhaust got damaged & was hanging... A little more then "hanging"....like it was ripped completely out from under the car and took the rear bumper cover with it... Figured he would have to return for the parts so left them on the side of this cul-de-sac. Had to dolly it since they are AWD in the Lincoln MKT. Not happy about it because it's a lot for the dollies but we didn't have another alternative. Then to make matters worse, the dolly wheel got off the edge going around a sharp turn and bent a spindle... He got it to a local station where he could get off the road. I went down with a rollback to get the exhaust parts and bring a new dolly... Just the typical crap you go through on a Saturday....
  18. Assume it's a "Philly wreck chaser"... Looks like a pick up, maybe an under bed wheel lift?
  19. Feels like I have been out every night this past week.... 30 Mile tow on a loaded unit back to the DC... Transit Bus died out in the middle of the road in a intersection... Deer hit last night...
  20. Typical Uhaul call, Saturday night on a Holiday weekend for a theft recovery... Can you believe this has been missing since 2018? LoL... It's been sitting at this house for months we found out. We knocked on the door to get the keys (worth a try?) but the woman inside wouldn't talk anymore. So we drug it out the drive way and got the brakes to free up for a rear tow. Truck was empty. We'll have to go through it next week....
  21. Got a call the other day from a customer that said they needed a Tandem axle box truck, fully loaded, towed from the rear due to a broken rear spring. They were looking for 100 mile tow to Philadelphia. I declined and told them nobody should do it and that they need to find another solution...You would be lifting 30,000lbs on the wheel lift and nearly doubling the weight on the steer axle of the truck... They said thank you & hung up. Got another call the next morning for the same job but now they said broken Air spring...and going 30 miles to a dealer. I accepted the call for a substantial fee and said we would take care of it.... I rear lifted the truck and removed the blown air bag. Hooked the 2 lines together and aired up the rest of the system. I put a piece of hard wood between the spring saddle and frame stop to keep that corner from leaning too hard... Then hooked up to the front and towed it to the dealer Pretty easy job once you overcome the customer's request...
