Had a customer come in that apparently wanted my Dump Truck more then I did so it moved to a new home... We just bought it's replacement which is very similar... Pretty much same truck but very low miles and a Duramax Diesel. We started a full refurbish that should be done in the next month or so... This was owned by a local municipality that we do a lot of work for. The truck was part of their "Parks & Recreation" department so it never was used in the winter or plowing and typically only carried bagged garbage. She looks a little torn & tattered but will be like a new penny in a few…

After 20 years of service, we decided to replace our main Heavy Duty with a new Flag Ship. This is a Peterbilt 567 with a Jerr-Dan 35 ton Integral wrecker... These new trucks are pretty sweet... Cummins X15 550 with an 18 spd, 46k full lockers on Air Track, 18k Steer axle... Navigation, Satellite radio, Wi-Fi with a built in browser, heated & cooled seats... It's a big step up from my "Shaker"... Spent most of the day figuring out boxes & equipment...it's a big change in the body as well. I made brackets to hold the cribbing from sliding around. We had ex…

Got some time to show the crash truck some love so I figured I would update... First we removed the simulators and installed "proper" aluminum wheels...LoL Removed a portion of the Cattle Guard grill surround...just wasn't feeling it... Setting up the Milwaukee Tool Boards... Still a few more coming... I mounted a power inverter in the rear compartment for batteries & flash lights. Under that is a refrigerator for refreshments... The opposite side got the gas powered equipment... Rear compartment has fuel drums, absorbent…

Well, I've been out of touch for a long time, so it's time to fix that. If anyone happens to recall, back on Tow411, I shared some pictures of an IH 9900 we had started remounting our 1040 on. We did finish that truck, and it's been a very good addition to our fleet, so I thought I'd share a couple shots of the finished product.

We brought a customer's dump truck in to check for a refurbishment overhaul but it was in pretty bad shape and I didn't think the ends would justify the costs. So the guy falls in love with our dump truck and was willing to pay up for it so down the road she goes. Not the most opportune time to loose my plow truck so we decided to mount the V Plow on Eddie's wrecker for the season... We pretty much only plow our own properties. We already found a replacement Dump but it will be a few weeks to get it ready for the fleet. In the mean time, this will work for our lots.

I found this 1990 F350 with a 5.8 gas motor, only 27,000 original miles on it. The truck is really solid for the year and the price was right. This should be a tank in the snow and has plenty of storage. We are currently running a Chevy 1500 with a service cap on it and an S10 with a service cap for service work. This will eventually replace the 1500, I like the S10 for fuel mileage on the simple calls but when I need tools I want something more useful than the 1500. I have a few ideas of what I want to do with it to make a new service truck for us. I am also going to mount a front winch, compressor and generator. Maybe this time I will remember t…

So, I really don't have time for another project but I could not pass this up and I like these old internationals. 1999 International 4700, 100K miles, cab in perfect condition inside and out, AC/ DT466 with a 6+1 transmission. The steel bed was in good shape but as usual, the cross members were toast. The bed was 93" wide with the old fixed side rails that the JerrDans had. I had looked at a bunch of these trucks and felt that I could fix them but for what they wanted for the truck itself it was not worth it. This one was priced right to do the work so I bought it. We cut the side rails flush at the bed and removed them, that put us at 90" wide. We cut …

Just finished a full refurbish on my 07 International Extended Cab Rollback. We took this truck out of service nearly 5 years ago with 385,000 miles. It became a "back burner" project but finally came together. I had this truck built in the spring of 08 w/ a 07 pre emission chassis because I didn't trust the MaxForce engine that was replacing it... It ran fine but had "blow by" which is typical with that many miles. I should of moved it before it got that high but when my wife got sick, I didn't spend any money... So we either had to sell it as a high mileage "beater" & get beat up on it or make it in to a premium truck so... …

Topic Originally Created by EdsTowing in December of 2014: We had to do some work to our mpl40 recently to clean it up. The lift cylinders were poor by design & seeped chronically. The tilt cylinder was pitted bad for years but recently started leaking as well. Then one of the winch functions failed due to a problem with the control valve so it was time to pull it apart. We had the valve body overhauled cause Dam...it's like stupid money. The pins & bushings were all replaced. All the rust on the boom was dealt with and we replaced all three cylinders. Then we painted the boom like the rest of our wreckers...which we were supposed to do years ago but n…

Topic Originally Created by EdsTowing in January of 2011: This was a project that we just finished up recently on one of my 03' International 4300's. The truck was showing it's age (and rust) on the body so we figured it was time for a make over... This deck was pretty rough and we had one in better condition from the last truck refurbish so we opted to rebuild that one. First we made a work bench out of a wrecked camper trailer frame to make the body mobile. Then once situated, we cut out all of the damaged cross-members. They were caked with years of trapped mud which is the cause of the failure in the first place... …

This is just a "Sneak Peek" of our new project. We purchased this F550 from our local Fire Company and we are going to make another Crash Clean up truck for Emergency Responses... I'm excited to start on this one. It's a 550, 4wd, Power Stroke Crew Cab... Truck is litterly like new with only 11,000 miles on it... 12,000lb Warn Winch on the front... Lots of Emergency Lights... I'll update as we go but I think it will be a huge asset to our company.

We had to replace our service truck so we decided to start with a "clean slate". I wanted something to use for our road service, our accident clean up response as well as traffic control to deal with people that don't move over. We thought about a couple of directions and decided on this route... 2018 Ford Transit 250 Van. 1st order is to tint it down a little...lot of glass... Then we sent it out to have a Interior Shelf unit & divider panel installed... Went with a composite divider to keep noise & fumes out. Not sure why the picture size has been limited that I can o…
