Towing a Mack anthem I was told by a mechanic that pulling all 4 axles is recommended instead of pulling driveshaft. Has anybody else heard this?

Got a call from one of our accounts to bring a truck in for a No Start problem during the 1st storm of the week... Didn't feel like laying in the slush but it was backed in and the dam box on the back looks like it was 13' on the ground? So I pulled the shaft so I didn't have any problems.

When doing a rear tow on a semi with sleeper skirts like this, should I be running straps or something to hold those together? Or are most of those strong enough to survive a rear tow. Thanks!

Hi folks, Is there any problem that you can think of by towing a medium duty bucket truck (chevy c7500 with 50' altec boom) from the rear? I will save me from the driveshaft removal. But I a little bit worried about putting weight on only the front axle and front load rated "G" tires. Should I keep my speed down? This will be a long distance tow of over 500 miles. Thanks

Hi Guys, Started playing around with the spring slippers I got with the wrecker. I am attaching a couple of pictures, I had not installed the cross pins yet, is this the right position? How would you chain this hook up? I am thinking from the axle back to the crossbar. Thanks for the input

Hi All, I just picked up an International 4700 LP with a Jerr Dan hpl60 body on it. According to Jerr Dan the wheel lift has a 6000# lift capacity with forks. It came with a set of spring forks, risers, and some other attachments but no axle forks. Based on the size of this truck and what I will be able to tow with it, what forks should I invest in? Thanks Tracy

I am putting together the an older HPL60 Jerrdan. It has a tow bar for trucks, no sling, that takes 1/2 inch chain. I have a couple of 1/2 in chains that are 20 feet long and Damn heavy. I need to cut at least one of them down. What lengths should I be looking to make for hooking up from the front and the back of medium duty trucks when needed. I have enough chain to make multiple sets, just need to buy hooks. Thoughts? Thanks Tracy

One of my guys towed this tonight to help another tower.... Never saw a body like this. Shows they are out of Ohio and the company moves all kind of freight in them...even shows transporting a car!

Picked this bad boy up in the woods for a friend and brought it to our shop. They are heavy little buggers... It was "Rear Tow Friendly" at least...

Had to tow a loaded gas truck the other day that derated. I smelled propane when I was under it but figured it was residual and it was pouring so I just wanted to get the dam shaft out of it. We went to look at it the next morning & found it lost 15% due to a leak of a seal in the bottom of the tank. They came over and pumped the rest out & then blew off the lines and what not to get it back to atmospheric pressure. It only had 60 miles since it left the dealer so they asked me to tow it back there for warranty DPF issues.... Sometimes you get one that was "made to tow"....LoL. You couldn't ask for an easier rear tow... …

My dad always said "Every Man Must Know His Limitations"...Words that I have used often through my life. The other day I got a call for a Rolloff Truck that blew the rears out. Got on scene and found that it had a 40 yard can on it as well. It was 90 some deg. and I wasn't looking forward to pulling axles so I figured I would try it backwards. The truck wouldn't roll at all...not even freewheel and I found a small junkyard on the ground under the power divider where it grenade'd the housing... After hooking up which was WAY too easy...I stepped back and took a look...not too good. I could see me steer was light. I can tell on my truck when it gets…

Driver was put out of service, IDOT requested that it be towed. When I got there the officer said didn't they tell you it just needs a driver. Uh no, so we towed it. Not sure I would have done that anyway. Not big on doing that, we are in the towing business not driving someones else's truck,

Working in the Army Depot the other day...With COVID-19 issues, it's probably easier to get in to a Rolling Stones concert for free.... LoL Eddie had to do the forehead scan, the mask, background check & full inspection of the wrecker....
