  1. So a week or so ago we get a call for a theft recovery that was crashed in the woods. Turns up, a guy in Massachusetts sets a meeting on the date site "Grinder" for alternate life styles... He meets the guy and apparently doesn't hit it off because the guy steels his car and brings it back to our town where he proceeds to crash about a block from his house! He leaves the car and someone reports the incident to the police. When they arrive, they find that it was reported stolen and start looking for the culprit who has "Blue" hair?...LoL... They go to the guys house and arrest him for the incident. We recover the car and take it to the barracks for Chain Of Evidence processing. Once complete, they have us pick it up for storage. The insurance company decides they want it transported back to Mass for repairs... So I took it up the other day, a nice 500 mile trip... Not a big deal...just thought it was a funny story. Best part was it paid very well!
  2. It's great when one end or the other stays intact...exspecially for me since I don't have a Landoll.... 😉
  3. Nice work....wires are nothing to fool with.
  4. Thank God he's "Not for Hire" or he could do some real damage....LoL
  5. Value is in the eye of the beholder.... A serious wrecker company isn't going to buy a 22 year old wrecker for commercial use. A lot will depend on the chassis...that's what you are buying here. Trucks are a little nuts now so maybe this is worth 8 or 10,000? Does it run? Looks like a 7.3 truck, 2wd? I think a lot would depend on the trucks basic condition & operation. The unit will probably work...up to the point it doesn't...and then the problem is finding parts & pieces. There has to be an ID tag somewhere on it?
  6. It's unusual.... The boom reminds me of a Holmes design - fiberglass side covers (like the old Commander series), side mounted pistons but the head/fairlead assembly isn't Holmes. The tow bar/sling definitely isn't Holmes....nor the winches. The body isn't Holmes, they never had that tail light configuration but I don't recall anyone else having it as well? If I had to guess...I would say it's a Chinese import unit. They are notorious for copying segments & pieces (copyright infringement isn't in their vocabulary) and the body design seems like something they would produce. The molded fender flairs, the chamfered edges on the boxes, the rear pull ring incorporated in to the tail board...and the goofy looking tow sling which looks like it is from 2 different generations? Did you find this in Canada?
  7. I just had to follow this up...this started nearly a year ago. We received a call from a property owner today that they wanted a car removed from their property. The community's Security told her to call us and we responded. Rob recognized the car because he parked it there last year! She told us the owner is still in jail and didn't know when he was getting out....obviously something more then the DUI it started as? So now we got it back in the impound yard. I'm going to assume that there is a finance company somewhere looking for this...We don't have keys yet so I'm not sure of the mileage but he only had the car for 1 day when we got it so I'll assume it isn't much. 😁
  8. Godspeed to the Tennis family...good people that I have met a few times since the start of the PA Association.
  9. On a side note, when I get one that is sunk this bad on 1 wheel I typically suspect septic, natural spring or some reason it dropped so far in. I will hook to the low corner and throw a strap over the barrel...pulling on the corner that is stuck, and set up offset from center on the high side. It releases a lot of the resistance trying to overcome a 30" dropped tire in a hole, and they roll right out once the truck gets "level". I have even done it with LD's as long as you have enough "ass" to counter what's in the tank (weight). I like jobs like this. I have also pulled from the top tank hatch if it's a problem getting to the truck frame. They have like a dozen 1" bolts holding the hatch on and are strong as hell. Oh and I'm not judging they way you did it...just another suggestion as to what I typically do.
  10. Yea it was like 4000 miles on it. Don't know the whole story though...like I said, we didn't want to get involved to much due to lack of knowledge & software. I understand that these are based on the European DAF truck that Paccar also owns, but these are built in the states? There was another one from NJ at the dealer for service when I picked this up but other then that...I haven't seen any around.
  11. We had a driver for one of our accounts that we were getting multiple jobs a week for... he ended up leaving when they found out he was partially blind in one eye? That explained a lot but I was still sorry to see him go...LoL
  12. The guy wanted us to repair it but Paccar engine...European designed...Alyson Trans....No, No thank you. I didn't have the time to have my guys get buried in that. Ron it was on 22.5 rubber, air brake, 33,000 GVW chassis. It was plenty stout. The customer took the refrigerated box off of it and is going to make it in to something else? Not sure...he was European as well but his Visa worked just fine... 😉
  13. UPDATE... The Honda guy saw it my way and dropped off a deposit last Friday. My body shop is backed up and he didn't want it painted anyway (no funds) so we fixed it in the front shop... It gets delivered tomorrow....not pretty, but functional.
  14. Shame....you're out there just doing your thing and get caught up in something like this.... Godspeed to everyone involved...
  15. Towed a Propane truck to the dealer in Allentown the other morning... We got a call from a customer with a tractor broken down in NJ not far from where I was so I shot across the border to fetch it.... Rushing around to get back, I got hooked & rolled on out to head home. Got about 1/4 mile down this little back road and noticed the air shields were flopping in the breeze when I got up to about 25... Pulled over on the ramp to investigate prior to getting on the big road... Found all of the brackets on this POS were broken & missing...both sides. So I had to strap the hell out of them to keep them from falling off. If I would of paid closer attention, I would of towed it from the front & dropped the shaft. Still had to take it easy coming home....the dam shield was swelling like a fat guy at a pie eating contest... More mad at myself...I don't usually make these mistakes... LoL Well anyway, it all stayed together for the 55 mile ride back.
  16. Towed one of them there ugly Peterbilts the other day for the 1st time.... Actually I towed it to the dealer a couple weeks ago and now brought it back to the customer after computer repairs. Don't know much about them...easy to tow. No offence if anyone is running one of these...LoL
  17. Had a Freightliner going to a dealer in the Lehigh Valley area... Hate when my truck is dirty...it's hard to keep clean every day in this weather. Best part of the job is the Hotdog place on the way home... 🌭
  18. Got a couple shots of my new truck being built.... It's getting more custom lighting and tool boxes...supposed to be ready in 2 weeks.
  19. Had a 3 car crash right up the street from the shop... They had an issue getting ambulances there from out of the immediate area so we staged in the parking lot until they were ready... My shop is just up from the billboard in the background... When we got back to the shop, we delivered the parts out of the NAPA car to a shop up the road....Friendly neighbors...
  20. Crash we had the other day. Single Axle Waste Truck went head on in to a Toyota at a busy intersection... They flew Medivac to take her to a trauma center... They had a difficult time getting the patient out of the wreck. Her leg had broken and lodged up behind the steering column... In a Holding Pattern... They cut the hell out of the car...
  21. I guess they can be rented like an Air B&B now. We are going to keep it at a local campground that we do a lot of work for. That way we can keep an eye on things and we don't have anyone pulling the trailer anywhere. We will figure it out...for now our guys love having the place to chill out and rest.
  22. Tell him they are otherwise known as Wheel Chocks....LoL Nice work
