  1. Didn't have a lot of time today but we got the truck in to at least put equipment in to it if we need to use it. We gave it a "Once over" and everything looks pretty good so far. Fallsway in Ohio built this for us, they have done 4 of the last 5 new trucks we bought over the last 2 years. Dale & Brenden are good guys to work with and they know our business 1st hand which is beneficial. We dealt with a number of supply chain & delay issues since it's conception but it was beyond their control. This unit also has the Self Loader wheel lift installed which to us is beneficial for accident work. I anticipate that I will get the added cost on the back end when we sell the trucks. We had a lot of custom lighting done on this unit from the start. It has Blue & White lighting added to the Amber units... The Whelen side strobes also have LED puddle lights to illuminate the work area along side the truck We decided to try this style instead of the factory RAIL lights from Jerr-Dan. They work well too but the added lower illumination seemed worth the added cost. Definitely "Bright" out the back. As for the truck, I'm glad to be back in to the Ford. This F600 does ride a little "stiffer" then a 550 but still compliant. It sits a little higher, presumably from the tire height difference. This is our first Power Stroke with the 10 spd and it has great power & smooth operation taking off. It feels more like my 7.3 Gas then my son's 19' diesel with the 6 spd. You can't get the 600 quite as opulently outfitted as a 550 but the interior is still nice and comfortable. I'm anxious to put something heavy on it to see how it handles. I think it will transport our clean up equipment very well. I'll do some more pics as we go...
  2. Well my new rollback finally got done and we picked it up tonight... My grandson & I just got home @ Midnight...truck ran well. It's our 1st F600, has a 6.7 Diesel w/ the 10spd trans & 4.88 gearing. It's a 20' Jerr-Dan steel deck w/ removable rails and the Self Loading Wheel Lift. Now we will start the custom stuff...
  3. I think our winter is done...so everything came in to have the snow tires removed... Took the aggressive steers off the car wreckers too. The trucks ride & sound so much better of regular rubber...
  4. Nice...we haven't seen any yet.
  5. How does that truck do power wise? I never ran one with the Power Stroke in it.
  6. Every winter we get guys that try to use this skinny road that cuts through the state park to save mileage to the local DC's in the area. They started to put a commercial truck travel band on our area Interstates during storms and it greatly minimizes the work we get on the highway anymore. But some of these "Cowboys" figure they can find a better way... Guy tore his bumper off but we found that it was all "rigged" in there from a previous incident. We strapped it up just so I wouldn't loose it in the tow... Paco here (assumption) had some struggles with the English language so I told him to go take a nap in the bunk and I'd wake him when we were done...LoL Wouldn't you know that the News Team just happened to be set up a couple miles up the road on our way out so we got some TV time as well...LoL Towed to a parking lot where I could drop it and remove the bumper completely... Got paid & On to the next job...
  7. Never fails....but that's what we do so... Eddie did this one about 30 miles from our place... All in a days work...
  8. We have had quite a few 2 car wrecks the last couple of days... Pays the bills...
  9. The other day we were getting a blizzard storm w/ high winds & snow... Getting ready in the am and I went to start my truck up before I left the house... I think my truck had an attitude about working that morning....basically told me "If you want me to start then come out here and do it yourself"... LoL
  10. We have had a slue of theft recoveries for Uhaul recently...sometimes I don't know how that company makes money... Stealing & hauling used cooking oil in the truck...pretty freaking gross in there... Stolen from NJ This one stolen from Philadelphia... One was from Florida and they were living in it... Eddie "shook" the truck and they came out of the back.... We keep a rolloff container at the shop pretty much all the time for this... I think we had another one this week as well. It's good business for us though.
  11. Just a follow up...my driver told me today that he was on the interstate yesterday with this truck and was surprised on how everyone was moving over...to the point that they were running the shoulder of the hammer lane and he was completely in the breakdown lane. Hopefully it helps us in the future.
  12. No Brian, they aren't on a individual switch, they just come on with the bar light. Honestly we typically wouldn't be doing anything out of state with the lights on anyway. The body sides & front strobes are on a separate switch if needed. I don't worry too much about the "Legality" issue of them much anyway...
  13. Had to deliver a trailer to our County's Emergency Management/Control Center the other day that we refurbished for them... We refinished the entire unit and updated all of the lighting for them... This is the second trailer we have done for them and are currently doing an ambulance & a Fire Truck as well...
  14. PA Passed a law a fee weeks ago allowing rear facing Blue lights on tow trucks. We had one of our providers come in to move a couple amber modules to the front and new blue modules in the rear... It's hard to catch it in a picture... But now the entire bar is populated, front & back. I'm curious to see how they look on the road at night.
  15. Haven't gotten my truck yet but it's close....
  16. I agree George but the funny thing is nothing seems heavy for this truck....With the counter weight package, it's the most stable & reassuring wrecker I have ever driven. I'm not ignorant to weight...but I haven't had anything that made me feel light yet.
  17. No I didn't pull anything...just verify the front hubs are unlocked. The transmission is in park anyway. I would usually do this with our 550 Chevron but I wasn't familiar with this unit (not our usual locations truck). When they have the big cranes and a lot of stuff, they can really "tax" a small wrecker. We got paid for the heavy so I just used it. Sometimes I miss my medium duty...hopefully I will have a replacement in a while.
  18. Man we could use some snow George....I don't even need a lot, a couple inches is fine? It has a substantial impact on our revenue...but what can you do...
  19. Eddie told them $1600, it was just under 250 loaded miles...I thought that was ok and they jumped on like a dog in heat! Then we started thinking that maybe we were too low?...LoL I forgot to post this picture...It didn't have much damage...
  20. We tow a lot of these trucks...especially in the winter months. They are typically nice for rear tows... My truck got a full cleaning when I got back...hard to keep them nice in this kind of weather...
  21. Not exactly an "antique" but for what these trucks are doing at Auction, you would think so... Rob brought this one in from a local fire company for repairs. It's a 1986 ex-Military truck that they use for brush fires... Not often we see them in this nice of shape...
