  1. Our new chassis came in yesterday. This is going to be a cool build with a lot of custom stuff... Its a 2023 F550, Lariat, Ext Cab, 4wd, 6.7 Pwr. Stroke & 10 spd... with just about every available option... This unit will replace our 2019 F550/Chevron truck which will be available for sale this summer. Just a sneak peak but I will document the build over the next few months.
  2. Got all of the electronics installed the other day (2 way radio, ect...) Got a big order supposed to be in from Zipp's tomorrow to finish up the boxes & equipment mounting...then I'm done. We have been using it somewhat regularly and it works nice. It handles weight nice...no drama.
  3. This was a Brush Truck that was towed in for a transmission problem... We replaced a Transmission Control Module and she was back in business...
  4. We have been doing the work for our Transit Authority for nearly 25 years now... Share Ride bus for a break down... Transit Bus for an overheating issue.
  5. We were just talking here and today our new plates showed up.... Started getting concerned, we did the paper work for this last August or September....
  6. No it's primarily for the cab...painted surfaces. They did the body sides as well. We have had them do wheels as well on natural aluminum but this truck has coated wheels so they didn't.
  7. I have heard about this recently....PSP must of had a "memo"... I know guys over the years that had this issue come up. I believe the fine was twice the registration fee, which on a F550 is probably around $1500. I believe the actual requirement is that it has to be a registered, titled motor vehicle. I think if they want to, they can go against any piece of machinery? We typically only move our own machinery but even that is probably fair game for them. I have seen guys have issues with sheds & tool box's and what not. Personally, we only do that kind of stuff typically "in town" but that's not a exemption. Brian may have more clarity on the matter though?
  8. We just had the truck Ceramic Coated this week.... We have done a number of our trucks & equipment and liked the results. It makes it real easy to clean, most of the time just blast it with the soap gun and blow it off. Whatever we can do to preserve the appearance should benefit on the other end when this unit gets replaced.
  9. We have one in all the trucks for blowing speedy dry off. They sent me an adaptor kit with a strap that will work with multiple brands. It inflates the bag in 10 seconds or so...then you just leave it on till you drop the car.
  10. If anything you found a future problem with the truck...being the oil is wicking up the shaft splines & accumulating in the yoke. It's a good possibility that the pinion nut is loose.
  11. Yea no disrespect to the Ram but the refinement, the ride, the infotainment system are superior in the Super Duty. The Cummins ran good and they get a lot of "hype" but it wasn't better then this 6.7 & 10 spd combination. This truck pulls really good, and smooth. From a personal aspect, I fit better and more comfortable in the seating position on the Ford. That Ram reported every flaw in the road surface back through the steering wheel. You had to make sure your coffee cup lid was closed tight or it would be all over the cup holder... The electronics in the cab are far more user friendly & practical in the Fords. But hey...now I know...and I got 2 more Fords coming...LoL
  12. We have been discussing a Light/Medium Catch Bag with Mat jack for a couple of years. Many of you may have saw it on display at the Baltimore show last fall? We finally got ours and I'm anxious to put it to use... I'm hoping we can give them some good feedback on the use & real world operation of it. I believe the real target market will be for EV cars that you would want to avoid just dropping on a rollover but we are going to try it for whatever we can.
  13. One of the Departments we do work for had a transmission issue with a truck at a brush fire. We towed it in the next day for repairs... She's a big girl... Flag placement was perfect...LoL Back to the shop for repairs. We had to replace/reprogram the TCM and got it back in service.
  14. Picked up a School Bus today that was donated to our County Emergency Management for the Fire Training School... The school is getting a grant that pays them $20,000 per bus if they destroy them and replace it with newer technology... We have done 4 big jobs refurbishing equipment for the Emergency Management department so I don't mind helping out with training scenarios like this.
  15. I have used a number of them over the years...OTC & what not. I currently have the Tiger Tool in my truck and it works good. I never needed the smaller one.
  16. Had a gas truck get stuck delivering behind some commercial buildings in town. It's a tight ally way so I took a small truck to make it easier to get in there...or at least where I thought it was... Got back there and didn't see him... then I saw piece of him over the bank... Backed down the hill but couldn't get back up, even with the locker rear axle. Even tried the lumber....which never works. Just under 80%... 2 Part line and it came right out.
  17. The winters seem to make the trucks a little "dingy" looking sometimes so we try to keep up on it. Eddie had a company come in and dedicate a day to his wrecker yesterday... This truck is a 2019 with 30k on it. It's replacement chassis was built at Ford a couple days ago and should be delivered in the next week or so. The body won't be ready till this summer so this will be for sale then. It isn't cheap but they did a real nice job...3 guys working on it for most of the day... The truck still presents like nearly new...
  18. Had a 2 car first thing this morning that opened your sinuses...it was a brisk 25 deg after we have been spoiled with some nice spring weather... Couple of late models to bring home... Nice feeling when a new truck gets put in service & starts earning right a way....
  19. Tree appears to have been un-affected....LoL
  20. Got our rollback back from the sign shop last night... I was happy with the results... She got put to work first thing this morning!
  21. Oh wow, that could be good for business. My daughter is in Truckee California and they have gotten like 56' of snow so far this year...the banks are 18-20 ft high around the house...it's absurd!
  22. Yea those fronts look like a blue tint in the picture but they are actually flip white/amber.
  23. Dam...it's got to have a 350" wheel base? Looks good though. If you have the time for the build, it's definitely a good option to refurbish an older unit.
