  1. 1 nice KW. Obviously, a capable wrecker with a experienced operator. Good job
  2. Good job Grumps, you forgot the heavy equipment, onsite safety management team & maybe a rolloff dumpster Then wonder why the tow industry insurance premiums are what they are
  3. Using anything other than the FACTORY tow hook may cause damage when loading & is more so a liability. As long as you are following manufacturers guidelines & the factory tow hook has no visual damage. A catch strap is a good idea, but, I would not attach a strap around ANY suspension component on a exotic & winch onto a rollback. Aside from a component failing/bending, if the strap contacts any painted surface or applies pressure to a body part & causes the slightest damage, the operator is 100% at fault Tow hook failures are caused by operators not following proper usage. They are engineered, hopefully correctly, like all towing attachments
  4. Assuming the bed is a NRC 20k capacity & if that chassis is spec’d correctly, it wouldn’t be so bad NRC’s website advertises same type of tow That series chassis(spec’d correctly)can hanlle a 25ton wrecker Only issue is, alot of those 20k beds are installed on derated low GVW chassis’s & with the extra bed weight they end up having a very low legal loaded weight capacity
  5. Thanks Steering doesn’t lock, seatbelt through steering wheel works
  6. Thanks Occured at local hospital employee parking garage. Ball joint broke backing out of parking space.
  7. If you are talking new. All 3 manufactures can be spec’d with same drivetrains. Freightliners are least expensive & will have lowest resale value. Quality is decent but nothing compared to a Kenworth or a Pete Be cautious of engine specs. For instance, px6, px7 & px8 are non-removable cylinder liner engines. Px9 has removable liners. All can have same horsepower ratings which can be deceiving. It is common for dealers to build with lower cost series engine for better margins. Assuming automatic, be mindful of transmission series as well Front & rear axle weight ratings based on YOUR needs Local dealer is also important for warranty issues in which any & all will have As for downtime, use quality clean fuel & DEF. Majority of issues can be prevented with proper service.
  8. Depending on application. When mounted on manual transmissions, essentially, the PTO becomes part of transmission case. Gravity & centrifugal pressure. Mounted on a automatic requires a hose attached to pressurized port on trans & return is gravity Only required service is lubricating the PTO pump splines & NOT-leaving it on driving
  9. Thanks Its a 4wd plow truck. R/F wheel unable to roll! & was a 5 mile tow, back to our shop. Bed has 8.5t capacity with 5k wheel lift Drove like there wasn’t anything being towed. Recently purchased 3.5x3.5 fork holders for crossbar, definitely should help towing heavier trucks.
