  1. Chuckud, can dollies be used with any width tire? Was told 7” max & larger would interfere
  2. Checked out the Collins Carrier Dollies at tow show. Only concern I had was limited tire width, only 7” width I was told. Will dollies work with vehicles with wide tires( new Corvette, BMW X series etc.) ?
  3. Completely disagree all single axle tow trucks are ‘heavy medium duty’. Obviously would be dependent on chassis/wrecker specs not just # of axles. Good luck with new truck. That tow bar can handle alot more than underlift & truck handles better. Only drawback is limited use couple snatch blocks & angle iron- easily tow a semi
  4. Definitely can be done on your own & save $. FMSCA website. No cost for DOT & $300 for MC along with # of requirements(depending on vehicle classification, interstate, intrastate, etc) & alot of reading or you can hire any compliance company(google) Not sure where your from, but in my area maybe 25% of tow companies are operating ‘correctly’-just doesn’t seem to be enforced, yet.
  5. Good idea. But. Highly unlikely any manufacturer will entertain this Reason 1- COST 2- Certainly not a positive selling point, would appear a break down & tow is expected with the new vehicle you purchased how often do European manufacturers ever admit to ANY poor engineering ?
  6. This was a return trip. Initially towed to our shop due to cracked water pump, we installed new engine & pump asm, filled witth 500g water & returned early AM Light attached to steel support bracket - misplaced the ‘fiberglass magnets’
  7. 6’4”. Mislabeled heights not unusual.
  8. Interesting. Any more pictures of truck
  9. How has the Dual-Tech on your old truck been? Haven’t seen many, just curious What make wrecker is on new?
  10. I did not post this, write it or tow it. Don’t understand how this happened??
  11. Most of my days are filled with moving run of the mill modern cars, and a lot of pick-up trucks, and certainly my share of POS'. Today I got to move this gem! 1972 Boat tail Riviera, 99% original un-restored. Exhaust and tires are the only things not original to the car. Original paint, original brown interior is excellent condition. Even the hitch was dealer installed. Hair over 60k original miles, still technically a one owner car. Dad recently passed after fighting cancer for 3 years, his son who I met today has not transferred the title yet. Dad purchased new in 1972 at a dealership I go to often. Purchased from the dealerships owner who I know well. After sitting for approximately 10 years, they put a new battery in and the old girl started right up. His dad was able to drive the car around some before he passed. Even the A/C still works fine and still has R12. I always find these interesting when you have some history and context to go with an old stunner like this one, maybe its just me ...

  13. If your looking for reliabilty & serviceability, definitely Ram. Ford is a better driving truck & nicer interior only positives i can think of Personally, empty single axle pickup would be the heaviest vehicle. Empty weight(depending how it is equipped) around 10-11k, leaves about 9k
