So, I got nearly 3 years out of this one and the screen went out. Time for a new one, problem is I am strapped for cash as I have focused on regenerating the message board. In fact I have devoted so much time to bring the community back from near disaster I have not invoiced Patrons & Sponsors on a timely basis. Making sure the community was back on track has been my main concern. Generating funds to keep it going has taken a back seat. Now, I am forced to ask for help. I have a Supporter that has pledged to match funds up to $1000.00 in order to get a new Macbook Pro. I need to raise these funds in the next 45 days. So, the way that has been d…

I was watching Dragon's Den and a couple for guys invented a motorcycle helmet with a brake light on the back. They inserted the sensors from a cell phone into LED lights in the helmet and when you even slowed down, the brake light on the hemet would engage at the same time as the brake light on the bike...it was impressive. Question for all you brave souls out there - Is there an application for this with workers on the side of the road? A light on your actual head to try and prevent what seems to be, a pandemic of lives lost? Would it make you more visible? Is it legal? Would a red and blue light on your head be allowed if they won't allow…

Hello Fellow TowForce Friends, I hope this post finds everyone healthy and virus free. I must add, I'm looking forward to dropping this from my greeting as soon as possible! This is a quick note to introduce our newest technology for the towing industry, InTow Connect. As you all know, motor clubs are looking for towing providers who have adopted technology. They want to ensure providers can accept digital transactions, making their call distribution process easier and more efficient. Historically, towing providers would have to invest in towing management software to achieve this goal. These systems can carry large monthly fees …

Not sure if this is the right place for this, But I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge when it comes to making custom flash patterns for lights that don't have integrated strobe controllers. Currently I have 68 total lights run up and down my rollback bed and up and down the headache rack, I provided a video of what i currently have them setup to do, the video is old and since I have added the before mentioned headache rack lights. My bed lights currently run with my running lights and headlights, and when my running lights are on if I turn my strobe light switch on it will override my running lights for the bed only and my bed lights will instead flash in the p…

Palmettostatewrecker asked this question in July of 2017: Does anybody use 2 way or fixed radios in their rigs. I am looking at adding a few to ease dispatching. I don't need a cb to talk to other states, but also need something decent to communicate with drivers throughout the area. Jefftow said: No we don't anymore, not for several years. This will be an interesting topic to watch, I hope. I sure miss the days of talking into a mic, either in the cab or in the office. I just don't feel like I'm talking on a radio if I'm using an two-way app on a smart phone. When radios went by the wayside, I kept several. They're mostly good for nothing but b…

The Tow Times July issue explores how the coronavirus pandemic has forced a deeper digitization of storage yards to minimize person-to-person contact, advantages of rotators with recovery capability combined with weight-saving design, how wireless remotes enhance tow operator safety, and basic car carrier securement. Plus, operators and airport workers team up to recover a vintage DC-4 aircraft that was blown onto a hanger by a tornado. Find this and more in the Tow Times July issue. KirbysTowing asked the question in January of 2012: My rollback has a Lodar wireless remote for the bed and side- puller winches, It will work intermittently for about 2 seconds at a time. I have changed the batteries checked the connections etc. I am at a loss, and I use my side-puller all of the time, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. eastendtow66 said: We have the same sym on our rollbacks when your sil valves have bad coils the lodar will kick out the power so you wont burn out the power box. Orcas Tow said: Mine was doing a similar symptom, I noticed that the Lodar would pulse on/off, drop out rhythmically & w…

With the new normal off working from home many towers I have spoken to have moved their dispatch operations to the home office or have allowed their dispatchers too work from home. This is fairly simple to do today with high speed internet, laptop computers and virtual phone systems replacing traditional wireline services. My question is, what security measures have you taken to protect the integrity of your company data when accessing it remotely? It would be devastating if someone hacked into your dispatch or billing software and held the data hostage, or worse yet, used it for fraudulent purposes. Most business liability insurance policies have some coverag…

On March 19, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued a memorandum on identification of essential critical infrastructure workers during Covid-19 response. The memorandum was intended to identify those workers critical to public safety and health who would be exempt from mandatory business closures or work shutdowns. In the “Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce,” CISA “developed an initial list of ‘Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers’ to help State and local officials as they work to protect their communities, while ensuring continuity of functions critical to public health and safety, as well as economic and nationa…

We all are aware of the digital dispatching options and the push by the motor clubs for providers to go digital... Why, because it allows them to cut THEIR costs! They don;t have to have call center reps calling providers, instead the computer does the work and sends the dispatches out... That said, on the towing/roadside assistance company side, I'm curious how others are either embracing the change and options of technology vs staying with the long standing dispatching methods. The old method goes with the pen/paper and calling the drivers to give them the dispatch info for a job. So you're drivers have to pull over each time to get the job deta…

Hello, I am part of a technology company working on a prototype for the towing industry and looking for feedback. I have the ability to tap into alerts from Waze, Google, Scanners, etc and get real time data on road incidents. We are looking to build an app that would notify drivers based on location and radius of incidents they are close too. These alerts usually come in earlier then calls to emergency crews. 1) Is something like this valuable? Or does dispatch have enough data to execute on this? 2) What features would you find useful or like to have? Thanks,

We have been using "payfox" mobile app for the drivers to accept credit cards. Love it there is a place for the driver to put a description ie invoice # and driver name. Then every transaction we get an email so i can stay on top of it. Big problem i'm being told it will no longer function in 4 weeks and the new program they are offering doesn't give us the ability to put any notes nor will we get an email. So wondering what everyone is using and what are the pros and cons?
