  1. Can anyone explain why they even continue to manufacture 19 ft beds in the US. Doesn't seem like they sell as many as to 21 and 22 ft beds. Seems the options should be 20 or 22 foot beds. But, then what do I know...
  2. The image is that of a road service truck which could be owned by a towing company which could explain the wording. Regardless this is a road service tech and our thought's should be with all involved in this tragic incident.
  3. I don't see a 396 badge, so I assume either it wasn't put back on or it's not an SS...
  4. Thoughts and Prayers to both the Tow Truck Driver who has not been reported as located at this time. As well as the Police Officer who remains in Critical Condition without further updates to his status. Now, can someone advise me by either email or inbox if the REPLY Button on this topic is not working. In the past there would have been 4 dozen replies with the First 4 hours the Tower Down Topic was up. I Don't Get It.... Collective Thought is Important, we Pray they bring our fellow tow operator home one way or another. His family needs to know his fate as I can only imagine the pain they are going through at this point. God Bless
  5. NOTICE: there is only one day remaining to enter the weekly t-shirt drawing. Still working on some additional prizes and of course I am sure there will be at least a couple of more opportunities to add an additional entry before the drawings end this year. Remember we do these roll calls every 6 months and while the numbers in this roll call are not as high as we would have liked. The number of click thru in response to emails remains high. We just need to get those members to login. Thanks, perhaps we should post a list of members opening emails and members clicking thru. Have to think about if that would even be proper. Have a Great Week leading up to a Spectacular 4th of July Weekend. I know many are now well over 80% of their normal call volume and looking better even though some states are closing down again. Can't put this genie back in the bottle, just use caution when around those you do not know and it's going to be quite sometime before you can take risks with riders again. Take this opportunity to change the norm.
  6. I continually hear that finding drivers is difficult and owners are having to make allowances for employees they would have let go in the past. Few will work or be on call 24/7 and drug testing regularly is becoming more common. Often that means testing employees they know are not at risk just to keep the random testing legit. One owner stated he has lost 2 employees which tested positive. I won't go into the process within this topic however the process is more than just the test. Rob, has there a past dependency issue with this employee?
  7. just to note, I suppose I should have been making a list all along. Please understand that I am in the danger zone on a regular basis, I really do not need this on my mind as I fear it could have a negative effect. I know each and every tower down takes a piece of me. In regards to every list I have seen, there has been not just inconsistency but inaccurate information which could have been reached more thoroughly on various social media venues. It is my belief the lists are being complied from individuals who have sent the information in rather that verified groups. The accurate information is out there and I certainly do not claim to have each and every incident documented in the related topics here. Our sources are various but are not always followed up on. I do not know of any source that is, however we will do our best and to resource the information.
  8. Many who knew Mark & Da Moose from the early days of Tow411 are certainly going to be sad to hear of his passing. He was always good for a laugh and just a phone call away. I thought about him often in fact just the other day. I should have made that phone call, it always works out that way. So, if you have someone you haven't spoken to in a long time for one reason or another pick up the phone today. You never know what tomorrow will bring. I sure there must be a Bus Full Of Twinkies in Haven of Da Moose would have never gone... Now Haven has another WreckMaster #991044 to keep those Golden Streets open wide. Gods Speed...
  9. Don, I need to research for any updates, but last I heard you now have an immunity to the virus. Check with your doctor, I did it you were asymptomatic and did not need hospitalization. What symptoms other that a Fever and Persistent Cough did you experience?
  10. OK, just because things are opening up and many of us including myself think it's rather crazy to where a mask when your not near others. Do Not Fall into a False Sense that you can either return to allowing passengers or not wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer and wiping down surfaces. There is still a pandemic as much as many of us want to discount it. Fact is some areas have been effected more than others. Instead of shutting the entire country down there were obviously better solutions in hindsight. We have learned one thing through all of this, we're not all sheep... Suggestion: Don't Go Overboard. But Also, Don't Change the Precautions You have Implemented. We've been offered a Condo Next Month, So I'm Going to the Beach Now I Think!
  11. OK, so this article is from 3 years ago. Do you believe it is still relevant today? LOUDON, N.H. — NASCAR legend and team owner Richard Petty says he’ll fire any drivers who protest the national anthem. “Anybody that don’t stand up for the anthem ought to be out of the country. Period. What got ’em where they’re at? The United States,” Petty told the Associated Press. Petty was asked if a Richard Petty Motorsports team member would be fired for protesting during the anthem, and he replied, “You’re right.” Owner and former driver Richard Childress also said, “It’ll get you a ride on a Greyhound bus.” No drivers or other team members sat or kneeled at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the NASCAR Cup series race Sunday in Loudon, N.H. 12. Congrats All, other than Troy Barnett who is a supporter. I am not sure any are current members here. If they are I encourage them to speak up and be seen. Thanks and May the TowForce be with you.
  13. I might have found the problem, when the code reset it was limited to the first 4. I may have said that in the post, I can't recall. Anyway, I have added a couple more. HURRY use the Code TF50OFF before it's gone. cause we can't do this forever. Thanks and Yes it is good for pending renewals as well. Upgrades Yes That Too! https://www.towforce.net/subscriptions/
  14. I thought that as well, however I would suspect most would likely copy and paste the code. Though I could be wrong, anyway the TF50OFF Code is GOOD THRU Midnight Thursday 06/11/20 https://www.towforce.net/subscriptions/ After This Thursday it returns to the TF40OFF Code. Thanks to those for the support We are now at about 10% of our Annual Budget and Sponsor Invoice are going out soon. Time is ticking down on the Semi Annual Roll Call as we will be drawing tow names tomorrow. https://www.towforce.net/subscriptions/
  15. Have you been directly effected by the Current Protests and Looting? Have you been Delayed, Detoured, Turned Down Tows, Limited Hours, etc... Are you concerned with being caught up in the unrest and does your company have a plan? Many More Truckers then the Main Stream Media with report have been directly effected. So, I figure there have been a few Tow Truck Operators which have to avoid a confrontation.
  16. Seems in this video the Police SUV was running code when he struck the tow truck. I would estimate the speed to be around 65mph, at this point we can only speculate on whether the officers had their sirens activated. Regardless of many factors the Tow Truck did run the Red Light. When I do run code and it is not very often I slow at intersections due to the fact "It's adds on a few second and while seconds can mean the difference between live and death. You can't do anyone any good if you don't get there." It could also result in your death, but I understand the adrenaline get to following and it's pedal down. Hopefully we see what the dash cam shows. but i doubt that it changes much. Unless there were protocols which were not follow. Again, we're back to the Red Light. And as the news report states the Tow Truck Driver remains in Critical Condition. When are they going to get that straight...
  17. Chico. maybe take the homemade wrecker off and change it to a fifth wheel setup. Always a demand for those, sorry I have seen hundreds of homemade old school wreckers. Very few are quality, most are junk that will get someone hurt. Now, again not all are junk.. But the vast majority are and there are plenty of them sitting around. Take my comments as constructive and not knocking your truck. Might be good for pulling engines or junk moving vehicles around the lot. Brutally Honest that's about it....
  18. UPDATED: 2 LAPD officers suffer major injuries after horrific four-vehicle crash in South Los Angeles EARLY REPORTS stated that a Los Angeles Police Department Officer and a Tow Truck Driver were in critical condition following a collision. Updated Reports following the incident state that it was Two Los Angeles Police Department officers who suffered major injuries after their patrol vehicle was involved in a horrific crash in South Los Angeles late Wednesday night. By Thursday morning, one of the LAPD officers was listed in critical condition, while the other was listed in serious condition. Two other people involved in the four-vehicle crash were also hurt, police said. Officers responded to the area of Main Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard just before 10 p.m. after receiving a call for help. While crossing the intersection, the LAPD patrol SUV collided with a tow truck. It is believed the driver of the tow truck ran a red light, authorities said. Aerials from SkyFOX over the scene showed Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics trying to extract the officers from the vehicle. Officers tried to pry the driver's side door of the police vehicle open until Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived and were able to free the officer from the wreckage. The officer was placed on a gurney and rushed to a waiting ambulance. The driver of the tow truck also suffered major injuries, officials said. Another vehicle that included a family with children was also involved in the crash. However, no one in the family suffered any injuries. The names of those involved in the crash, including the two officers, have not been released. No further information was immediately available. https://www.foxla.com/news/2-lapd-officers-suffer-major-injuries-after-horrific-four-vehicle-crash-in-south-los-angeles NOTE: We do are best to get the information out to you while researching the report. Sometimes the information being sourced is not entirely accurate.
  19. Steve, try the TF50OFF again. I did not find a problem there. However, I did correct the problem with the TF40OFF Code. We are still new to these discount codes as the old system did not offer the option. Thanks for helping work it out.
  20. If they were running code then the camera would have likely been activated when the lights were on. If not the patrol vehicle had to have been traveling over the street level speed limit to cause that type of damage. It shoved the front of the SUVs frame back and bent the Tow Trucks frame. It's no wonder both were severely injured in the accident. Plus, there were 2 other vehicles involved. You have to watch intersections and especially during times of events. Last night I was flashing lights before entering dangerous intersections. Too many on both sides Police & Public were not paying attention to the lights. We'll likely never hear what the final out come of this violent accident was, but we know there were obviously several witnesses. Thought's & Prayers to all involved
