  6. On another note I have implemented all types of warning devises and have found it comes down the the amount of time the tow operator is on scene. When every minute counts. if the vehicle can be loaded and moved to a safer location then the minute it takes to deploy a warning devise may not be justified. My issue is that many will spend the time to do a full hook up/tie down rather than move to a safe location. This incident is much like a number of others where the tow operator would have picked up the warning devices and was re-entering the truck. It often does not come down to minutes but seconds. I find that many tow operators do not actually have a plan to react in seconds. On every scene you should visually plan an escape route, position customers away from the danger, even watching out for law enforcement can increase the tow operators ability to react.
  7. Had the media been fueled during the 2009 Swine Flu or H1N1 to the level today then thing would have likely been much the same. The swine-flu pandemic of 2009 may have killed up to 203,000 people worldwide yet there was not the same reaction back then.

  11. Randall Thanks, TowBot is a Robot Program that pulls articles from websites with RSS feeds. It has worked well over the years and within the new system was given the name TowBot. Watch for many more resource links to be added.

  20. Tow Operators and Truckers may be some of the least to fully understand that they are not often the ones at risk. Unless they have had a medical issue that has effected their immune systems they can often be a carrier. They could potentially take this virus back home to their family member who has a lowered immune system. That could be someone who has a medical issue or an older family member. They say that age 60 plus are at a high risk and those 80 plus are at the highest risk. Why chance it as so many are down playing the situation. Yes, I believe there is quite a bit of hype. But, why take the chance? What is that they used to say "An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure."
  21. I am going out on a limb and suggest All Motor Clubs seriously consider restricting ridership to protect their service providers. This would only be for the next 30 days. The small space inside the cab of a Tow Truck increases the odds of exposure. The member/customer would be advised to find alternative transportation. Riding with the Tow Truck Operator should always be a Privilege not a Right. Updated: I have already had one Motor Club contact me and say they are on top of this one. They have sent out information to providers. However they are not ready to issue an industry press release at this time. If a Motor Club has sent you anything pertaining to recommendations and procedures for dealing with potential risk please copy that to me. Thanks You will find several of these images online. To my knowledge these have not come from AAA.
