An angry suspect being arrested for alleged traffic offenses Wednesday night lost his battles with a wrecker driver and police officers, according to a Shelbyville Police Department incident report. Jose Mateo Garcia Menchu, 39, of Murfreesboro wrecked on Horse Mountain Road. Neither he nor his two unrestrained children, ages 7 and 2, in the back seat were injured, according to police. Garcia was initially charged with two counts of violating the child restraint law, driving without a license and not using due care while driving. He allegedly stood in front of a tow truck in an attempt to block its path, leading to a charge of disorderly conduct, a…

Photo for representation only We have a new operator so we send him on an easy call. The 2500 Silverado is parked near a cattle barn with no brakes. I instructed him on the details & sent him on his way.. About 45 minutes later, I get the call that we all dread, " do you have a truck going to..." So my heart sinks, waiting to hear the bad report on our new operator. The gentleman on the phone says " the driver is driving very well, but I would like to let you know that a orange cat crawled out from under the truck on your flatbed, walked to the side of the bed, looked down & quickly returned to under the truck on the bed" . …

So... A friend of a friend calls me the other day and asks if I would do him a big favor and tow his Ford pickup to his house for him. He states that something is amiss in the rear end or driveshaft. There is no particular rush as it is safe in a parking lot at a local grocery store. "Just grab it on your way through when ever you can" He asks. This is what I come across when I pass through.... Needless to say, I passed on doing this particular "favor for a buddy"...

A few nights ago, I received a rotation call from the highway patrol. The dispatcher gave a milepost location on I90 and stated that one wheel was missing and one tire was flat. When I asked for a make & model, she replied, "it's a Pontiac Grand something". She said the trooper had already left but there was a county deputy on scene. When I arrived 30 minutes later, I found the vehicle, Unattended, in the ditch, 30 feet off the roadway, with the engine running, sitting in a pool of gasoline from the ruptured fuel tank. What were they thinking!

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A family tragedy in Chesterfield has resulted in one death and one arrest. Rayshawn Elmore, 22, was arrested Wednesday for killing his younger brother, 12-year-old Jamarrieon Jones, at their Totty Street home in Ettrick. Elmore removed the magazine clip from a gun and cocked it, but mistakenly left a bullet in the chamber, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett about the Tuesday night shooting. He fired the weapon, and the bullet hit his 12-year-old brother Jamarrieon in the chest. Jamarrieon, affectionately known as Ya-Ya, was rushed to the hospital where he died. "Right now we are saying it was …

This Topic was started on Tow411 by Eds Towing back in 2012: Got a call this afternoon from the County Dispatch to respond to a scene where a man was trapped & pinned under a vehicle. I expedited with the 12 ton and found a guy pinned on his chest & head when he was changing the oil in a van using a scissor jack. There were ambulances & cruisers in the way to get to the front so we felt it was quicker to just get my jack and lift the car off the person. Once free, he was removed & transported to a ball field to be air lifted to a trauma center. The guy was laying on the cardboard and the front had to lifted since his ar…

A Philadelphia man is being hailed an "instant hero" for his quick work rescuing a woman who was drowning in the water at the beach in Wildwood. PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia man is being hailed an "instant hero" for his quick work rescuing a woman who was drowning in the water at the beach in Wildwood. Officials say the woman would not be alive if not for his selfless act. Tyree Ward says anyone would have done it, but emergency officials say not everyone is so selfless or brave. This all happened last night in Wildwood at the beach near Baker Avenue, just after 8 pm. It was late and there were no lifeguards on duty. That's whe…

Max Holloway, Muskogee In response to the proposition to change Muskogee's form of city government from a professional local government manager to an elected position, I am reminded of an incident about which I was told many years ago. It happened in "small town Arkansas." The town was replacing its water tower, and the professional decision makers had recommended taking bids that the professionals believed should range from $10,000 to $15,000. However, the local mayor and his buddy on the council suggested that was much too expensive and it could be done for much less. The team the mayor had in mind to do the job just so happened to be…

A father said to his son: You graduated with honors, here is a car that I acquired many years ago ... it is several years old. But before I give it to you, take it to the used car lot downtown and tell them I want to sell it and see how much they offer you. The son went to the used car lot, returned to his father and said, "They offered me $ 1,000 because it looks very worn out." The father said, "Take him to the pawn shop." The son went to the pawn shop, returned to his father and said, "The pawn shop offered $ 100 because it was a very old car." The father asked his son to go to a car club and show them the car. The son took the car to the c…

This is something I just do not do anymore. Can't even tell you how long ago I stopped putting my truck in this type of situation. Let the water go down or up, it is not worth doing anymore. Found this while looking for an image for another topic. Why do we overlook the men that get their lives on track and instead focus on those that continue down a path of disaster? We have a mechanic that was on the wrong path 10 years ago. Dad offered him a job when no one else would, 10 years he's been clean and sober. Dad just ran one of the guys old friends off the other day. Told him when he hired him if he ever hug around those guys again he'd have to let him go and he meant it. I was taught there are choices in life and even though someone makes bad choices that doesn't mean they cannot change paths and make good ones. It only takes someone t…
