  1. Nice. Looks like a heavy lil bugger. I know those old chevys can haul some weight.
  2. Does anyone know if anything is planned for Atlantic city this year? I really havent had the chance to sit down and see whats what for this year.
  3. Welcome aboard Sir. Lots of real good people on here. True professionals of the industry.
  4. Being I havent been to any shows in a few years I really wanted to do the estra show in buffalo ( cancelled ) and I am hoping to go to Baltimore. Holding out hope they dont cancel that one too.
  5. A good high quality cordless impact tool is a big one to have. Also, with the right socket it will help with caging brakes too. A can of brake clean and a wire brush is good to have for cleaning the grease and crud off of the bolt heads to make sure you get your socket on those bolts with a good bite. and a u-joint press tool for the pressed -in style u-joints is a must have. there are ways to pop them apart with out the tool but i am not going to mention how because I feel it is very dangerous. A good u-joint press is a lil expensive but worth its weight in gold in my opinion. Of course a good pry bar and hammer is a must have as well. If you are new to this then I also suggest contacting some sort of training academy or at the very least stopping in at a local truck shop and talking with someone who disassembles this stuff regularly. they will have some tricks and suggestions to help you out there. Not only can you cause alot of expensive damage if you dont know what your doing, you can get badly hurt as well.
  6. Still kicking.. Not busy at all but still paying the bills thankfully
  7. There are tons of different final drive systems out there. And each one has a specific procedure to dis-engage it properly. with that said I had found over the years that On most single screws ( 1 drive axle ) As long as the diff lock is dis-engaged,( if equipped ) Pulling one axle will do. On certain twin screws, one from the first axle does the trick as long as the power divider is disengaged. If time and space allows I used to pop one axle out from the first drive, then move the casualty a few feet then look to see if the drive shaft turned at all. ( a quick mark with a grease pen or piece of tape on the drive shaft makes it easy to see if it rotated at all ). If it did not move then I was on the road, If it did then I would pull a rear shaft out as well. I cant say for certain that my system is 100% the right way, but it worked for me the very few times I had no choice but to pop axles. I was never a fan of pulling axle shafts and I can probably count on one hand all the times I ever had to resort to it throughout my career. I am most certainly a pull the drive shaft guy. And knowing this, i made sure to buy all the right tools ( proper, quality sockets, good impact as well as breaker bars and ratchets and a good u-joint press tool for those particular types out there ) to make removing drive shafts as painless as possible. Just be careful playing with all the different setups out there, especially with todays fancy stuff.
  8. I find it amazing that with all of todays technology how un-tow friendly all these high end cars are. Its almost like these manufacturers go out of their way to make it a pain in the a$$ to tow and transport their vehicles.
  9. Winch line hooked right to the vehicle, No bridle or attachment device. Just slap the hook onto a bolt on lower strut brace thats already comprimised from the wreck. No wonder the line has been cobbed back together with those cheap and dangerous squish-clips. then as the casualty is dangling on the ditch on your half assed rigging and damaged line allow the cop to go get behind the car and start digging through the debris... Not impressed...
  10. Whoa.. That's gonna be a tough one.. In a perfect world, if you could find a used one that could be rebuilt that would be the ticket.. A buddy of mine went through a similar issue with his Vulcan V50 not too long ago. His wasn't bent but was heavily pitted and corroded so it kept tearing up seals. After searching every avenue we could think of he ended up biting the bullet and ordering a new one from Miller... I dont recall the exact amount but it was in the ball park $7,500.
  11. With heavy hearts our family sends condolences and prayers to the Burrows family during these difficult times. We pray the Lord will watch over you in this time of mourning.
  12. Swift transportation is so sad these days they cant even lay a truck on it's side the right way.
  13. Nice work. A lot of companies dont take the extra time to straighten up someones property. I have been mocked by other companies in town for raking up a yard or going back to reset someones mail box. I feel it is a great way to show the public that you actually care and are attentative. I dont have a sweet little excavator like that but I do have a rake, shovel and a strong-backed 17 year old son. Lol
  14. 🤨.... I am not really sure what it is I just witnessed....
  15. Very nice. Tis the season for sure. I have already hauled 3 so far.
  16. Maybe I am old school, but I have never been a fan of using my wheel lift without something on the deck. I feel like it is very abusive on the bed locks and I feel like the trucks handling is hinkey. Not saying that it is wrong to do so, I suppose if the manufacturers say it is ok then so be it. just me being picky.
  17. Lol The front wheels have to be on the ground in order to make sharp turns or ANY turns for that matter... LMAO
  18. I recall someone once trying to explain what they called the " Stab-Steer " method..... Stab the brake and steer the wheel... I stood there with my jaw on the floor as he explained how he never pays any mind to weight issues. This guy was as serious as a heart attack... Oh, did I mention this conversation was held while this guy was asking me for a job..
  19. Sending prayers to you and Nancy during these difficult times. Many wishes for a positive outcome . From our towing family to yours.
  20. Lol.. The way she is standing face to face with you, it does really look like she is giving you a stern talking to.
  21. That is one weird looking trailer. Sure has a big tail swing. Any Idea what it is used for?
  22. This guy did an Awesome job on that !! Like a lot of us older guys, i had a ton of Tonka trucks Including this same one when I was a kid. If I had only knew what they would be worth today..... I remember my Mom and Aunt held a big yard sale when I was around 13 or 14 and all my surviving Tonkas were sold.
  23. Nah... When something bad happens they just "go out of business" then magically reappear with a new name and d.o.t.#'s in a few months.. It has happened before...
  24. There is just simply no words. I dont know about you but I feel a whole lot safer because they used some slick strap work to hold that pile together....🤥
