Hey Guys! My name is Jess Horton and am located in Houston, TX. I am with 2 companies there, Car King Towing and Space City Automotive. I am formerly from Austin, TX where I owned companies there for quite some time. I sold, then relocated to Houston and got sucked back in!! LOL Once a tow operator, always a tow operator! For those that know me, I am a historically active advocate for the industry and involved in the industry, especially on the legislative side. I am a founding member of Southwest Tow Operators, as well as a past President. Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself and say Hello.

Hello Guys, I am a mechanic shop owner and looking to expand my business with my tow truck. I signed up for some motor clubs and have been doing some work for them for about a month now. I just wanted to reach out and see what were some common uncharges you guys send to these companies? Use of ramps, soft straps, etc. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks

I will make this short and sweet, did five years in the military (MAA) as police 3 tours Iraq (2) and Afghanistan (1). After getting out in 2010 the economy was in the dumps so I found any work I could get which turned me into an HVACR, Electrician/Plumber. At the age of 35 I decided to get into towing which was always something I wanted to do but could never find a way in. I am asking you guys/ladies what are my best steps I am WreckMaster certified online, I hold a DOT card and I did my NHI. I been thinking about buying my own truck and going with the trend of veteran owned and operated. If someone out there can give me some advice or guidance that would be amazing. Jus…

Good afternoon. My name is Philip Pietrowski and I'm one of the co-founders of Rescue My RV, LLC. We are: building a network of tow and repair companies that will provide excellent service to our subscribing members when they experience mechanical issues while on the road. We do not accept advertising from any tow or repair companies so our recommendations are completely neutral and performance-based. We are not: interested in cutting into your rates. Our subscribers pay your going rates directly at the time of service. How it works: Our member calls us when they need a tow. We then call you to make the connection. Once that's made, the s…

Hi my name is Ed I own and operate the Alfred Auto Center in western NY state. I opened the shop in 2010 and I have a good reputation in my area. Mostly we do general repairs and sell quite a few cars as well. I started fixing cars in the back yard in the 80's, now I still lay on my back out in the road so you see some things never change. I started out towing with a Holmes 440 sling on a Ford that was overloaded empty then graduated old school 454 chevy and a 17' bed, also over gvwr empty. A couple years on state police rotation before I moved to NY, got away from towing and focused on the shop side of things. I got back into it thi…

Hi to all, I'm not new the industry. I am however just not that experienced. I know my common sense and practice will help me. I pretty much grew up in a salvage yard. Angelini & Groff. My pop(grandpa) and his brother started in umpteen years ago. I rod around with him a couple years when I was a kid(around 5-7). Best memories of my life pretty much. This has been something I have always wanted to do. So I am doing it. I have been in the auto industry all my life so far(43 now). Repair shops, body shops, transmission shops, dealers, and salvage yards. At 25 I quit working for people. I just don't get along. And started my own repair shop. It has been goi…

I never wanted to sit behind a desk so I got into sales. Although I am in the "Sales" business, I am a problem solver and not a "Sales Person". I can't always promise good news, but I always shoot straight and deal with problems "head on". If you think tha…

Decided to make my own amature advertising from shutterstock video footage and royalty free musuc. Simple but effective (well sort of). Anyway, I am a tow truck driver from Australia running a small family business. At the moment I am struggling to stay afloat (like most of us) because of the pandemic.

Hello Everyone, I'm new the the forum, have been Light duty towing professionally for the last 5 years with both wreckers and flatbeds in Nova Scotia Canada, and before that, some tow experience from friends and family. Iv pulled wrenches in the automotive trade, and grew up in a family owned lumber mill , and worked on land based Drilling Rigs for a decade, so equipment, and mechanics and rigging are a nature to me. Iv always loved tow trucks, My uncle built up a 75 Chevy 1ton wrecker in the 80's, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world, with that 80's flash, graphics, Lots of Chrome and lights, lots of lights . Fast forward to now, iv had a hard go at getting my…

Hey everyone! New member here, but used to visit the old 411 site. Started towing in late ‘05 and became WreckMaster and TRAA certified. I’ve been out of towing a few years now and miss it every day. The past few years I’ve attended a few tow shows and WreckMaster courses and have a current Level 4/5 certification. Anyway, I’m looking to start my own company in the coming months in an effort to do things right and really put an emphasis on customer service. Anyway, I’m looking at some carriers and found a few within my budget and would like some input. First option is a newer, lower mileage 550/5500 with 19.5’ bed. Other options are slightly older 26k GVWR air…

been in the towing industry for quite a while but back in January me and a buddy decided to start our own business. we don't have a million dollar fleet just a 2014 freightliner m2 rollback and a 2005 Peterbilt 378 heavy. luckily we are running on a established name (previous owner sold to us, who we worked for) or the covid would have knocked us out.

Hello everyone I'm new to the wrecker truck world and the forum. I just acquired two trucks, a 78 and 79 Ford F350 wreckers. Both from a juck yard. One has a Holmes 440 and the other a Vulcan Industries. My plans are to restore the 78 with the Holmes on it. Not to work this truck just drive around and show it off.
