  1. Tow Truck Arrives at approximately 7 minutes into the video. The scene recording is uneventful until the very end when unprovoked the the Tow Truck Driver Smart Mouths the Live Streamer How many times must I preach to interactions with the person recording.within a few minutes I see at least two things that i would have done differently aside from not acknowledging the person recording. That interaction created an opportunity to use the recorded scene for a YouTube. Without the verbal comment it would have landed in the trash.
  2. These Skates were donated by Rodney Poynter of ITI to the Towing Museum at the Baltimore Expo. Tow411 purchased them to giveaway and did just that in 2012. The Drawing Winners were Active Members Wrkmstr & dmsummers who won one each. Wonder if they still have them in their collection.   5. They are best suited for a shop or a parking garage. Other than that you will find quite often they are in your way., You have to keep them out of the elements or they have issues. Are they worth having, I think so . I just do not keep them on the truck, then again I do not do REPO's or PPI's.

  8. I liked the 350 in a Vega, that would scream. But, best was an inline 6 in a 67 Mustang that would make 289's cry. The Inline 6 was a 260 with a modifications. Those were the days, I guess I liked sleepers. the station wagons back in the day would really hold the road. Thing about those 70's Mustangs is they weren't very popular so they didn't resell like they fell to Chevy's.

  10. Tesla says it has officially moved its corporate headquarters from Silicon Valley to a large factory under construction outside of Austin, Texas. The company made the announcement late Wednesday in a filing with U.S. securities regulators. CEO Elon Musk had said at the company’s annual meeting in October that the move was coming. The filing said the relocation from Palo Alto, California, to what Tesla calls a “Gigafactory” on Harold Green Road near Austin was done on Wednesday. In U.S. regulatory filings at the end of last year, Tesla said it had about 71,000 employees worldwide. Company news releases in 2020 said about 10,000 work at the Palo Alto headquarters and 10,000 are employed at its factory in Fremont, California. It wasn’t clear if all of the headquarters employees would be required to move. A message was left Wednesday seeking comment from Tesla, which has disbanded its media relations department. Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives said in October that he expects some of the 10,000 employees in Palo Alto won’t want to leave the Bay Area, but says a large number will, due to Austin’s lower cost of living. He said he thinks Tesla will give many the option of staying, but expects 40% to 50% to make the move. “The tax incentives down the road, we believe, will be massive when you compare taxes versus California,” Ives said. “Getting employees is much cheaper and easier in Texas.” CEO Elon Musk hinted at making a move ever since a spat with Alameda County, California, health officials over reopening the factory in Fremont last year at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. VA State Trooper vehicle struck during traffic stop A Virginia State trooper had something to be thankful for the day before Thanksgiving when his vehicle was sideswiped while he was on a traffic stop. According to VA State Police, the trooper had been conducting a traffic stop on Route 460, east of Route 614, when both his vehicle and a tow truck at the scene were struck by a 2017 Nissan Altima driven by 35 year old Waverly resident Russell L. Taylor, Jr., who subsequently fled the scene. A release issued by the department revealed that at approximately 7:10 p.m. on November 24, the state trooper was stopped - with emergency equipment activated - in the right lane of Route 460, eastbound, behind a vehicle that was being towed out of the shoulder area. His vehicle was struck as he was waiting for the tow truck to pull the stopped vehicle out of the shoulder area. The driver of the Nissan, later identified as Taylor, continued traveling in the eastbound lanes of Route 460, after also sideswiping the tow truck, until he was pulled over by the trooper, several miles up the roadway. Taylor, from the 29000 block of Lobb Shop Road in Waverly, was charged with reckless driving, failing to move over, and driving while revoked. Resource Link
  12. Be the Safety Manager, train for such encounters and learn how to manage rather than escalate. If the situation does arise at your business now how to deescalate it. Remember the person recording has an objective to create a scene. Boring is not marketable. While I do not feel it is appropriate for someone to video or photograph vehicles in the Tow Yard, it is constitutional. So, I would suggest to either ignore them or encounter them. My stance is I'm going to pay no attention to them until which point I see they are not going to leave. At that point I may take them a bottle of water and record them explaining their motivation. Without justification then they could be in some violation. But, generally they would know that better than yourself. Now here is where we get into an issue. As this becomes more common and I have no doubt that it will not. Especially, if those who would venture into it see dollar signs and others contribute to them for this type on content. Yes, there are those willing to fund this stuff. It's sorta like paying to watch wrestling.
  13. Video shows wrong-way tow truck driver slamming into CHP cruiser at Bay Bridge toll plaza OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- A tow truck driver going the wrong way rammed head-on into a CHP cruiser at the Bay Bridge toll plaza on Sunday afternoon. Officers were first called to the toll plaza to check on the tow truck that was stopped and refused to move. The CHP says the chase went all the way through Oakland before the driver crashed his truck along San Pablo Avenue. He was promptly arrested. The CHP officer and the suspect were treated for minor injuries. Does this refer to anti dumping laws, vehicles which are left in impound by owners and insurance companies or does it mean something else? Abandon vehicles are probably the most of our not getting payed. In my opinion, there could at least be a law that considered this as littering on the highway, maybe a fine of say $500.00, we could at least be payed our wrecker bill, get at least part of our money and then sell the POS maybe for the rest. Here it cost me between $100 to $125 to pick up this POS. I wait until I have about 15, sell them to a salvage yard for $75 and they pick them up. I am really getting rich quick this way. If the owner wants to claim the vehicle within 30 days, they come to our office and pay the tow bill then pay the storage fee to the department. If a car was impounded by a law enforcement after your auction you file for a Failure to redeem. The officer that had the vehicle impounded will write a ticket for littering it is a $538 ticket the towing bill is attached and the registered owner's license is suspended. The registered owner can't get there driver's renewed until the entire amount is paid. Driver License's expire every four year so it sometimes takes a while to collect but better then nothing. Our company did a failure to redeem on someone I know (not knowing who it was original) and she told us that the amount the court lien was double the amount that we turned in for, but she never sh.owed us the paper work to prove that. As a tower we would have to file as required per the rule in the state and then submit a request (form) to the state for a prearranged and set fee (eg...$100,00) for the removal and disposal. The state should look favorably on this type of legislation as it will bring in millions of dollars a year in "revenue" and the remittance to the towers only a fraction thereof and the interest on the collected money from this should be substantial since the money would be collected at the time of transaction and the payment to the tower will no doubt be months down the road and only after we negotiate all the red tape required. So then we pay some one in the office to access the dmv records and have to pay dmv to get vehicle owner information then make lien paperwork up pay again to have it sent certified mail to owner sit on it in our yard you know cuz thats free Im sure most of us could run from home if we didn't need a yard to store this crap then when we finally get notice back or wait out our 15 or 30 days depending on value of vehicle we have to pay our driver a second time to tow it to a wrecking yard and give it to them they will take it if we bring it to them so all of this out go and not once did we collect a dime for what we have done when does this stop!!!! and yes this comes from our rotation list take the good with the bad they say I call it black male I thought it was against the constitution to ask anyone to work for free or ask for services with out compensation this realty burns me. Most just acted confused about what they would do, but then a few said bring them on we'll take em all. Follow the legal process, cut the car up and sell it off. Even if the car had to go to auction all said they would cut the cats off first on the junkers cause they would be worth more then the car would bring. I would think a major factor would be how much space the tow company has in there impound yard. Any thoughts?

Already, Councilman Andre Spivey has pleaded guilty and resigned. Two more council members are under investigation, and two police officers have been indicted for taking bribes. Mayor Mike Duggan and Police Chief James White have each vowed to overhaul a towing process that has been rife with allegations of favoritism and corruption and been a source of embarrassment for the city dating back to the Kwame Kilpatrick era. After a series of high-profile towing scandals, the city of Detroit is embroiled in its latest and, quite possibly, its most seismic. DETROIT (WXYZ) — After a series of high-profile towing scandals, the City of Detroit is embroiled in its latest and, quite possibly, its most seismic. Already, Councilman Andre Spivey has pleaded guilty and resigned. Two more council members are under investigation, and two police officers have been indicted for taking bribes. Mayor Mike Duggan and Police Chief James White have each vowed to overhaul a towing process that has been rife with allegations of favoritism and corruption and been a source of embarrassment for the city dating back to the Kwame Kilpatrick era. “90% of the problems deal with towing,” Duggan said this month. Until recently, Commander Michael Parish was the department’s towing monitor, tasked with ensuring that tow companies followed the city’s rules and didn’t receive an unfair advantage. “I do believe that the roots of the problem lie in the towing industry itself,” Parish told 7 Action News. Unlike most industries, Parish believes the towing business invites bribery because tow services offer largely the same service: they use similiar trucks, similar equipment and offer largely the same service. “If your business is not going to separate you from the other, then the ingredients are there to go to extraordinary measures so make sure that you’ve carved out your niche in the field," Parish said. Tom Berry is a retired Detroit Police Lieutenant who says he saw tow companies cozy up to officers in his decades on the force. “(Towers) would gain the police officer’s confidence and they’d gain their trust and, especially, they’d gain their like,” Berry said. For some officers, bonds were formed over Hennessey or a boxing match on Pay-Per-View. In Detroit, towing companies are used by police around the clock to tow cars that have been seized, stolen or in accidents. When in need of a to truck, an officer is supposed to call a towing dispatcher who follows a rotation of 16 approved companies to make sure business is shared equally. But for a company looking for an edge, knowing the right cop can make all the difference. Instead of using the towing rotation, Berry says cops would make calls on their cell phones to their favored tow company, collecting between $100 and $200 a pop. “So they start making this money,” Berry said. “Well, what do you think they do? They run their mouth…and the towers would say hey, do you know anybody else?'” Soon, Berry said, word of the arrangement could spread to other officers. “How many cops do you think are or were on the take?” asked Channel 7’s Ross Jones. “I know a couple that retired and they were involved,” Berry said. “I’m not going to mention their names because they weren’t charged and they weren’t convicted. Some of these people I worked with. Some of these people were my friends.” The city now admits that its towing system was too easy to exploit, and faults what officials call a murky permitting process overseen by the Detroit Board of Police Commissioners that didn’t rely on competitive bidding. “The system that was under the Board of Police Commissioners had no controls in it,” Duggan said earlier this month, “I’ve been dismantling it and I’m going to finish dismantling it.” Until recently, commissioners like Linda Bernard had oversight over towing. But when 7 Action News talked with her about how to clean up the process, we were surprised to hear her praise Gasper Fiore, a disgraced tower who the feds called a “prolific bribe payer.” “I do respect Gasper because he’s a hardworking man who wears, I’ve never seen him without muddy boots,” Bernard said. His boots weren’t the only thing that was dirty. The feds say Fiore bribed Deputy Police Chief Celia Washington, Councilwoman Monica Conyers and Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick just to name a few. He went to prison in 2018 and was banned from towing for the city for 20 years. But Fiore’s checks still cashed. Commissioner Bernard, according to campaign records, collected a $1,750 donation from Fiore last year—the same year he was released from prison—and another $1,750 from his daughter. “He handed out bribes like they were candy,” Jones said. “I understand that, he did hand out bribes, he handed out money to people who asked him for money. And he had money to give. Right?” Bernard said. “It’s not right. It’s wrong because they were public officials.” “But you don’t have a problem accepting money from him,” Jones asked. “No, I don’t,” Bernard said, adding later, “There are crimes, and then there are super crimes” RESOURCE LINK with video
