  1. Hope you were wearing long sleeves and gloves. You never know what is in the brush and this time of year for us it's a poison ivy of some type. I know there are times I gotta get it, but flashbacks to the times I came away in pain trying not to itch weighs heavy on my mind. I try to carry cardboard or at worst use the cars floor mats. It usually a total anyway, allow these days you find fewer cars have their floor mats. At least it appears to have gone straight in, I've though I would need to cut a tree down before. However using other trees to winch off of was a better option.
  2. Robert Rodelo, longtime Chino businessman, dies Robert Rodelo, who with his wife Frances owned Rodelo’s Towing Inc. in Chino, died Sept. 22, 2021, at age 89. Funeral services will take place noon Monday, Oct. 18 at Crosspoint Church, 6950 Edison Ave., Chino. Services are open to the public. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Cemetery, 1240 G St., Ontario. A reception will then be held at Chino Hills Community Center, 14250 Peyton Drive in Chino Hills. Mr. Rodelo was born on March 12, 1932. “He was a hard worker,” his daughter Carol said. “He loved gardening.” Mr. Rodelo’s father, Pablo Rodelo, purchased a Signal gas station in 1951 at the corner of Sixth Street and Chino Avenue, which is now the site of the Chino Civic Center. The business was moved to Sixth Street and Riverside Drive in 1956, and a year later, Robert Rodelo joined the operation and later purchased their first tow truck and became Rodelo’s Mobil and Towing. For the next 40 years, the full-service gas station remained in business, and Robert continued to run the operation when his father died at age 88 in 1995. Three years later, the service station was closed. Robert and his wife moved to 5088 Chino Ave., becoming Rodelo’s Towing Inc. Robert and Frances were members of the Chino Research Group for the book “The Chino We Remember, A History of our early Mexican-American Chino Families,” which is available for sale at the Champion office, 13179 Ninth St., Chino. The 368-page book features a chapter with several photos of the Rodelo family. RESOURCE LINK
  3. TowForce will once again be in the house. Everyone that sees this post, take a moment to join in the chat. Remember to add "TowForce in the house." when entering or Your Name in the house. 4. Far more than anyone expected with everything that is going on. Vegas was the same way, yes it may have seemed the number were down slightly. However., in all my years I have never seen such a large crowd an line at the museum gift shop on a Sunday after the show. Normally every one has left and by one o'clock i am one a the last to head home. a good time was had by many I am sure, then there is the heartfelt and tearful moments during the Wall of the Fallen dedication. The presenter was even touched during the reading of one of our organization team members who had lost his life in January of 2019. For those that have not been to Chattanooga, Tn. you are really missing a piece of the industry worth taking the time away to experience at least once. Ask others and they will tell you it wasn't their first time and will not be their last. It isn't just the Museum, the Tow Show, The Wall of the Fallen, The Hall of Fame and so much more. It's the Food, the Atmosphere, It's Rock City, Ruby Falls, Look Out Mountain. We actually stayed closer to Look Out Mountain and stopped to watch the Hang Gliders on Saturday and Sunday Morning. What a different experience, but then we were 18 miles out and a 30 minute drive down into Chattanooga. The 3 BR 2 BA Cabin worked well for 6 of us. It was just the drive that takes a couple of days to grow on you. No straight roads through the mountains. Those that live and work in these type areas should feel right at home. Hope to see more of you in Baltimore next month. It's TIME to get back out to the shows and events.
  5. Just to follow up, my experience at the Boathouse was a 5.9 while our experience at Champ's was an 8.9. Thanks Jeff for the Hat it will be added to my small collection. Only 15 to 30 Towing Company Hats and a dozen truck manufacturing ones.
  6. Tried the Boathouse for the first time tonight. I rate it a 5.9 out of 10, it's just Okay. Must be the place more than the food that is the draw. Call ahead if you're going Friday/Saturday. Oysters were kinda on the small side. Catfish was good, but not Fresh Catfish as I would have thought.
  7. Found on FB: by Mary Beth Whitmire Prayer Warriors, asking for prayers for Trey Byrd. He is currently a driver for Unlimited Recovery. Regardless of the unknown circumstances that caused the crash he is in critical condition at Wake Med. I have been in contact with his Mom, and she has given me permission to make a post asking for prayers. Trey suffered some serious injuries. He is a father of a young child, and has an abundance of family & friends that love & care for him deeply. This was a hard scene to work, and definitely one that makes you go home and appreciate all that you have. Unlimited Recovery, Raleigh, NC
  8. Is this a late of training or a case of you get what you pay for?
  9. OK, so far we have: 24 Hours City Cafe Breakfast & Lunch Bluegrass Grill Hi-FI Clyde's Maple Street Biscuit Company Lunch & Dinner Bea's Restaurant Big River Grille Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar Sticky Fingers Now I know there are more, add your suggestions.
  10. WHY must I go over this type of interaction Over and Over Again? I am going to assume with cell phone in hand this was a YouTuber or such at the scene of a Police Involved incident. The Tow Truck Driver lost it at some point because of being recorded and went after the person with the camera phone. Notice the distance from the actual scene. Likely it started much sooner and we do not have the video of what set the Tow Truck Driver Off. Note: the police were on scene, the Tow Truck Driver took matters into his own hands. Why, well I assume because he felt the Police officers were not dealing with the situation as he thought they should. To fully understand why officers respond as they do, you need to understand policy and procedure. This is why I push companies to train their drivers. Obviously, a lack of policy combined with situation training has lead to this Tow Truck Drivers Termination. At minimum at least one assault lawsuit will be filed, we will try to follow this story as it unfolds. There are pieces of video which are missing, most important what lead up to the Tow Truck Drivers Reaction. While that does not excuse the physical confrontation with officers present, it will provide further details which will be used in the case. This is far from over with the drivers termination. Drivers get training, Owners train your Drivers. I feel many have not taken the YouTuber/Live Streamer Series presented on TowForce seriously. Also, if this former Tow Truck Driver is on social media. We all feel for your situation and as Tow Truck Drivers we can relate. However, those of us who have been watching the number of these incidents increase over the past couple of years have a better understand of how to deal with them without verbal and/or physical confrontation. https://www.fox2detroit.com/news/redford-tow-truck-drivers-job-terminated-after-viral-video-shows-them-kicking-a-man-in-the-shoulder
  11. I have my favorites, what are your suggestions? The image attached was taken at Mt. Vernon Restaurant which was located by the museum. Sadly, it is no longer there and event the old house it was in is no longer there. Does anyone remember it and did you eat there. I will add other restaurants like the popular City Cafe known for their cakes. If you have never been there, it's open 24 hours and a great late night bite. Huge Plates! Now what are your suggestions? Great Places downtown and on the other side of the river. Go... Oh, someone asked Bar B Q yes there is plenty of Barbq places. Microbreweries? Yes, there are a few for those who search them out. See you there? Did someone say Breakfast? Well there is City Cafe but one can only eat there so many time. Not far away is a place just around the corner from Chattanooga Choo Choo and Chattanooga Micro Brewerie. It's Bluegrass Grill, a Family Owned Hole In The Wall Place. Breakfast Lunch Only Closes early. The Image I added is Fresh Made Quiche on available on Saturday Morning. The Dad and sometimes Mom makes it very early before opening. Always Hot & Ready and goes FAST... What are some of your favorites?
  12. I'm guessing $20,000 damage. Did the airbag(s) deploy?
  13. Polybody was a Sponsor up until about three years ago. At that time I was informed they were no longer focusing or even building body sides for the towing industry. Polybody pulled the Sponsorship and I have not seen an Ad in a publication since. You might contact Pat Cahill and see if anything has changed. 978-360-4546 or pcahill@unitedplastic.com Another source is Scott at Tow Werx his email is towwerx@gmail.com . While the company does not build the poly bodies, Scott at one time had a lower cost then other sources. Check with him and I will send Scott a link to this topic.

  16. Dan Collins (DNDTOWINGINC) was hit and killed in Arizona on I-10 while doing a swap tow. He was unhooking the replacement tractor when an oversize load came through and hit the tractor he was towing as well as him. https://lasvegassun.com/news/2011/sep/03/tow-truck-driver-commemorated-procession-through-l/ Of the more than 75 responses to the original topic this one stood out the most. I can't say enough how much it means to read the kind words and thoughts you have sent to us. I also want to thank those of you who called to express your condolences. My husband was my life. Considering the little damage to our wrecker and the truck he was swapping out, God must have wanted him real bad. Again, thank you and please keep us in your prayers, this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. Please everyone be safe out there, but when God wants you, he wants you. A tow truck driver is dead after being struck Wednesday morning by a vehicle while assisting another driver on the shoulder of Route 100, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Steve Thompson. Anne Arundel County Police have identified the driver as James Schreiber Jr., 38, of Pasadena, a driver for Baltimore-based Ted's Towing Serivce. Officers closed Route 100 eastbound at about 8:25 a.m., diverting traffic from Route 97. They reopened the highway at about 11:20 a.m., keeping the right lane closed. Police officers responded to Route 100 eastbound just before the Oakwood Road exit at 8:04 a.m. for a reported serious crash, according to police spokesman Justin Mulcahy. Once on the scene, officers found a man lying on the right shoulder of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene by fire department personnel, Mulcahy said. According to preliminary witness information, the tow truck driver pulled over to assist a sewage truck that was disabled on the right shoulder. The tow truck driver was standing outside the truck and preparing to tow the sewage truck when he was hit by what has been described as an older model, red Nissan Pathfinder, a sport utility vehicle (SUV) with silver trim. Witnesses said the SUV initially stopped at the scene, but then continued traveling east on Route 100, Mulcahy said. The operator of the sewage truck was on the scene but not injured in the incident, Mulcahy said. Police said they do not yet have a description of the driver of the Nissan, but said the SUV should have sustained substantial damage to the front headlight assembly on the passenger side and have a missing traffic signal and mirror on the passenger side.
