  1. Continuing the return to Monthly TowForce Membership Lists. If your screen name appears on the List I ask that you take a moment to add a reply. Thanks for being a continuing TowForce Member. Also, we need supporters in order to bring back the monthly giveaways, attend towing events, hopefully have a return to those popular meet & greets at some point. In addition this new message board has monthly expenses and we do get or did get compensated for time. Katkiller aka Chris has been covering the event costs the past couple of years. We need to get a realistic budget moving forward. I will be asking for member support each month as a new member list is post. I want to also take this time to thank each and everyone of you for your participation and we hope to see you at a towing event in 2022. Check TowForce regularly for Industry News, Rollcalls and much more. 4. The Port City's tow truck community honors the life of one driver killed on i-65 while on the job MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -- It was a show of force from the Port City's tow truck community. A memorial drive on Saturday paid respect to the memory of one of their own who lost his life on the job last year, on I-65. Dozens of tow trucks and their drivers came together to remember one of their own, Jonathan Neesmith. "Everyone deserves to go home to their families, I wasn't lucky enough for him to come home to me," said Rebecca Neesmith, Jonathan's wife. Jonathan, a tow truck driver for Semmes towing was on the side of I-65 helping a woman tow her car when he was hit by a distracted driver and lost his life. Rebecca said her husband loved his job and was overwhelmed with the support from the tow truck community, she calls family. "They're even more family now. They have been amazing and great. And I know, even if the ones that don't know me, or they may have even heard my husband's story, I know I can pick up the phone and call any one of these guys out here." Although the memorial was a chance to remember Jonathan, Rebecca hopes that her loss will most importantly help bring awareness to Alabama's "move over" law. "When you see someone on the side of the road, just slow down and move over, they want to go home too," said Rebecca. Rodney Schrimpshire was Jonathan's manager at Semmes Towing. He said he can't stress enough how crucial it is for people to move over and slow down. "People fly by and they don't realize we're standing right there, it don't take but a second, and our life is gone," said Rodney, "If you can't move over and give the lane, slow down at least, at least give us that respect." Rebecca and the dozens of others that came out to honor Jonathan hope that they can bring change and help protect those who risk their lives, working on the side of roads. "If we can just change one person's perspective, then we've made a difference somewhere." Resource Link
  5. Man accused of crashing stolen tow truck into Greeley Police Department receives bond reduction The 38-year-old man accused of driving a stolen tow truck and crashing into the Greeley Police Department is receiving a $25,000 bond reduction with conditions after a disposition hearing Wednesday. On Wednesday afternoon, Rudy Salazar of Hill-N-Park appeared virtually at his second disposition hearing, along with Public Defender Leah Scaduto, who asked the court to consider a $50,000 bond reduction. Scaduto told the court Salazar missed a court appearance in December because of mental health issues. Salazar is doing better, according to Scaduto, who indicated Salazar is now on medication. If released on bond, Salazar would have a strong support system of family members in his life and a steady job at a construction site, Scaduto said. Prosecutors argued against modifying the bond due to Salazar’s serious and significant charges, and his failure to appear in court in December. Deputy District Attorney Ashley McCuaig advised Weld Judge Timothy Kerns that jail is the best place for Salazar to be so he could be monitored for mental health issues. Ultimately, Kerns modified Salazar’s bond to $75,000 with conditions upon release. If Salazar posted bond, his sobriety must be monitored, he must participate in treatment at North Range Behavioral Health and he would be prohibited from operating a vehicle. Earlier this month, Salazar appeared virtually without representation before Kerns at his first disposition hearing. Salazar requested the court reduce his $100,000 bond, but citing the nature of the crimes committed, Kerns ruled not to make modifications. The bond status was left open for argument at his next scheduled court hearing once an attorney was assigned to the case. Salazar was arrested on June 28 after allegedly stealing and operating a tow truck under the influence, intentionally crashing into other vehicles and purposely ramming the stolen truck into the control panel of the Greeley Police Department front gate. Rudy Salazar, 37, allegedly struck the control panel outside of the Greeley Police Department headquarters causing the stolen tow truck to become disabled (Courtesy of the Weld County Sheriff’s Office). In total, he is accused of hitting four vehicles on his way to the department. One person was hospitalized with minor injuries. The crimes totaled $52,100 in damages. As of Friday afternoon, Salazar remained in custody in the Weld County Jail. Another hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 11 in Weld District Court. Resource Link

  7. Topic Originally Created by Da Wash Boss "In Memory of Danny Cassello" Here is yet another beautiful classic Lombard Motors Unit. They had some really state of the art units back then and some really nice ones. Of course the current owner of Lombards has some really nice trucks today but there is nothing like vintage iron. Hope everyone is enjoying the photos. jimmypinktruck said: Wow, what a great looking Kw. gmwrench33 said: Nice. Is that a kemps are a 1701? Thanks for posting. lylewrecker said: Rule of thumb All 1701's and 1801's had gussets that came to a point on the side of the boom kemps were square. Kirbys to if i remember correct. Da Wash Boss said: he Lombard wrecker was a 1701 purchased new from Holmes. However a couple months later there was a problem with the winch gearbox. Holmes took the truck back did not have the parts available to repair it so they installed at no extra charge an 1801 gearbox and transmission assembly and pump. Back in the day when you had a real wrecker when you owned a Holmes they took care of you. They still have a great product today but you must be a select person to get the service that everyone got back in the day. I am sure many can vouch that back in the day if you had 1 truck or 20 trucks you were treated the same. Today its not the same, very very sad. Now as for this other unit I myself do not know which one it is but with the empty boom head hanging off the mast I am guessing it was converted. Also I have to question the body as most tandem wrecker bodies had a piece that came down between the tandems and this one does not. Also, on this other one I am guessing by looking at the flat tailgate its an older 750 that was converted. gmwrench33 said: I am not sure either Danny. I took these pics about 3 or 4 years ago. I have been wounder which it was. I had notice the pointed boom but I don't think the 1701 would have the side winches. Da Wash Boss said: Looking at that body thats an old 750. The 17 or 1801 bodies never had tail lights like this one or a flat back and the control panels of the 17 and 1801s never looked like this one. The factory control panels were normally about 10 inches long and 4 inches up and down. I would bet thats a Kemp unit. lylewrecker said: The lower bed looks kemp's SP8000 said: I was thinking that this was a Kirby Grant based upon the ends of the sheave wheel guides at the end of the boom. Thet appear to have a small set of sheaves built into their ends for three or four parting the winch cables. Coming from the "Rust Belt", I wouldn't rely heavily on the body sides for identification. I have not seen many wrecker bodies "simplified" when they were re-skinned. Jeff Leavitt 86 Towing Gabriels, NY 518-891-6666 billsservice1 said: we bought that truck from lombard Jimmy Da Wash Boss said: Yes Jimmy Chuck told me you guys did. Where is the truck today do you know? Owl Wrecker said: There is no conversion there. That is a genuine Holmes 1701 mast and boom, although the cable guides are non-original and the boom head has been worked on. As far as the body goes, the 750's, 1625's, and 1701's can fit on a 750 body. It looks like someone updated their 750 with a 1701. Is this truck for sale somewhere and do they have contact information? gmwrench33 said: No, I don't think it is for sale. Hare wrecker service in gadsden alabama. I think it has been in their family for years. It is mounted on a autocar. billsservice1 said: we got red of it in 2005 when i got my new 35 ton pete i was told it went down south some were Jimmy RFmotors said: ??? If it’s a 1701 why only two levels , the 1701 has 4 and did 1701 come with side winches?. The boom looks like a 1701 exempt for the shim plate that looks like kemp. Some one said the truck came from Mass could this be a Roseledge truck Owl Wrecker said: There's only two levers because it is most likely on a 750 body. Look closely on the drivers side of the bed towards the tailboard, you'll see a valve body with additional levers, they're kind of hard to see. Those side winches and sheaves were added on by somebody at a later date also, they didn't come from Holmes like that. Da Wash Boss said: This truck was purchased new by someone down south I think from Southern Wrecker Sales. Then Lombard Motors purchased it from Fruehauf Wrecker Sales in Wallingford, Connecticut. He then had a problem with the winches and it went back to Holmes under warranty and they had to replace the winch transmissions and boxes and they put Holmes 1801 parts in as they had no 1701 parts. Then later on he sold the truck to Bills Service in Stamford, Connecticut and at some point the truck was traded into G&S wrecker sales in Hatfield, Massachusetts. It was then sold to Acme Towing service where it remains today. jimjim said: the winches on the 1701 run super sub slow even with the throttle pulled out i have never had one stall on me truck has a 350 cummins with a 15 double over rears are 444 ratio frame rails are 3 layers totaling 1 inch thickness the kw has has been a real good truck for us.

  10. Welcome back in Steve, glad we got that password worked out. Boltz, Thanks for the Patron Level Renewal, much appreciated.
  11. We are still in need Patrons to cover the costs of the community. Our current Patrons are doing what they can, however there are 2 dozen pending invoices. I will not create a list as that is just wrong. So, I ask that you check your email address in your profile to make sure it is active. The notifications will also show up in your messages here. For those that are not current supporters, please take a moment to review the different levels. Thank you and I promise once we reach the needed annual funds these requests will be few. - $75.00/yr. for Patron Level III Supporter - click here Ask Me about Sponsorship Opportunities Available which include display ads.
  12. We all think we are fine and often out of nowhere, even going around or through marked comes a vehicle.
  13. The Roll Call seems to have stalled today. I know now all our members are Snowed Under. Add a Reply, Add an Image, just say your HERE... It's All Good Here!
  14. It's now been One Year... How has the expansion into the Tow Business progressed?
  15. @Stuart Wagner your support is much appreciated as we strive to maintain the best Social Media Venue in the Towing & Recovery Industry. May the TowForce be with you in 2022.
  16. This may be one of our best starts to the semi-annual roll call which continues into next month. February is Historically Patron Appreciation Month and that will begin February 1st. We are hitting the ground running in 2022 and we seriously need your assistance to cover more ground. In other words cover the expenses which are incurred from the operations of this community and it's affiliated sites which are basically free to use. Two of those are TowCareers which is active and TowTruckShopper which with a new server this year is going through some changes. I know our current supporters are always ready to provide needed funds. We're seeking new supporters, if you are a current supporter please consider one of these levels. TowForce Supporter Levels Start at $15.95/yr. - $29.00/yr. for Patron Level I Supporter - click here - $50.00/yr. for Patron Level II Supporter - click here Thank you and we strive to only ask for funding a couple of times during the year. Our hope is you value this community enough to provide this needed support. Again our appreciation to the current TowForce Supporters, Patrons and Sponsors. Now, let's add some more member names to the list. We have nearly 6000 members.
  17. I know the feeling, however it was not your intent for this specific unit and if you change the intended purpose then it will not be your unit and you'll have to get another one. I'm I not correct? Was the dispatch clear on the type of truck? If not then there should be an extra charge as it would not be your problem that you didn't have the proper equipment. That's like me getting called out on a van, only to find out it is a fully loaded Plumbers Van. Can I get it. Yeah, been awhile but I've done it before. Should I get it No, it just isn't safety conscious now a days. So, we do the right thing request a larger truck rather then chance it.
  18. Since we are taking email submissions I will not officially mark this topic closed just yet. But, don't wait!!! You can email your list to 2021rankings@tow411.net you must include company name and if you are not a current member and account will be created as this is a member only rankings. Thanks
  19. Don't see many valve stem tools at booths any more. But, that makes them special these days. https://www.4imprint.com/search/valve stem Oddly enough something else you never see but nearly everyone uses are hair combs. https://www.4imprint.com/product/115487/Boutique-Comb First Aid Kits are also good to have around and there are various types from single bandages to kits: https://www.4imprint.com/product/7886-S/Companion-Care-First-Aid-Kit-Opaque Wow, this is something I have not seen before: https://www.4imprint.com/product/147802/LED-Zipper-Pull Clip On Portable Cutlery Set: https://www.4imprint.com/product/119390/Clip-It-Portable-Cutlery-Set I got a lunch bag from Chevrolet at the work Truck Show a couple of years ago, it was a higher dollar one then this one. But any type of bag is a value to those in towing, it doesn't have to be a lunch bag or anything fancy. Lunch Bags are always good.: https://www.4imprint.com/product/109470/Square-Non-Woven-Lunch-Bag I did not find a link to them right now, but the reflective decals which attach to the inside of a vehicle door are good from a safety standpoint since drivers open and close the doors often. Hope this helps anyone displaying at a show. Remember you do have to control these items at the booth. Generally I give them to those who show interest. A bowl of candy, mints and such is better left on the table then an item. Does anyone know what may be the most popular giveaway at a tow show? I think I do....
  20. TowForce Semi-Annual Member Roll Call Starts Now: The Roll Call is how we account for members entering our drawings. As we are anticipating a return of our T-Shirt Tuesday Drawings which have gotten sidetracked over the past year. Keep in mind there may also be other prizes added into the drawing besides T-Shirts. You just never know what one of our valued sponsors may come up with at anytime. or what falls out of the prize closet. Then again, there are no promises, the same is true for holding a drawing each and every week. We do try our best though as you know with a stressful schedule we just are not always able to conduct a drawing each week. We strive to do better in the second half of 2022 as we really fell behind in 2021. I want to also take this time to thank each and everyone of you for your participation and we hope to see you at a towing event in 2022. Check TowForce regularly for Industry News, Rollcalls and much more. Reply Below HERE. Then add your state and even an image of your equipment.
