  1. I love seeing all the ways you and your team find to support your community, keep up the great work!
  2. Go with a Whelen, you can get a Towman's Justice or Century for $800-900 and they're simple to wire.
  3. Are they ever really truly done though? There's always more goodies you find along the way to add on lol
  4. Years ago we had a car nail a pole, the pole snapped and it was laying across the road. We arrived and the police officer wanted us to lift the pole off the car and open the road. I said "sure, as soon as the electric co. tells me it's safe". The officer argued and argued with me about it, saying the house had no power so the pole must be dead. I pointed to the house next door, which still had power, and surmised that the break must be somewhere at the pole that was in 2 pieces with broken wires laying about underneath it. It got to the point where he threatened to kick me off the scene and call someone else, but before he got the chance the electric co showed up. First thing he says was "good thing no one was trapped inside the car, all the wires draped over it were live. Power is disconnected, tell the tow guy he's safe to remove the car". Talk about a foot in mouth situation, but he never questioned me about anything after that day.
  5. The bed, all day long. The scooter? The more has prices keep going up the better it's looking lol
  6. How much product did you end up with? We did an Utz truck that got t boned and the company wrote the whole load off and said we could have it. Our break room was stocked for months after with snacks of all varieties.
  7. I wouldn't say the pole lost, it looks like it was a pretty even tie lol
  8. It works pretty good, but the wheels are pretty narrow so it's not as stable as the condor. It's a nice versital piece of equipment but I still haven't figured out how to store it on a truck permanently because the pieces are so large.
  9. So I had a 26 footer stuck last night and I was taking to the dispatcher about the new policy of paying for winch outs. I've been to this house before for a winch out and both times it was a hundred plus foot pull. According to the dispatcher, U haul pays us up front and charges the customer for my costs once they get the bill. That makes sense since the last time I was here, on Christmas night in the pouring rain, the dispatcher told me they didn't care what the cost was to get it out.
  10. They've been doing it down here too and I love that decision. They genuinely don't care what it costs to get it out, they just want the equipment out without the damage that usually follows when a renter tries to get it out as cheap as possible. We did one Christmas day in the rain, a 26'er that was over 200' off the driveway. In the past they would've called for a quote, told the renter and they probably would've just spun and spun and spun until they broke something and needed me to tow it. This time u haul just covered it and even though they said they didn't care what my bill was, it still saved them from having me tow it 30 miles to their service center and finding another truck for their renter on Christmas.
  11. It couldn't have weighed too much since it's mostly air in their chip bags lol
  12. Damn your truck doesn't look like it even knows that hog is back there, especially considering it's a short wheel base truck
  13. I'm the only one in our company that uses dollies and I've yet to self clock myself, knock on wood. My training consisted of tow411 posts and YouTube videos along with reading the manual mine came with and loading a bunch of cars in the yard.
  14. Talk about a functional counter weight but I'm sure Eddie isn't going to love how that poor truck is gonna look after everything is plowed.
  15. I love it! You're going to have to change your signs though to say "Ed's Towing and fire rescue"
  16. I've seen a few with the Jerr Dan front bumper with a front winch mounted in it and they look pretty sweet. I'd be curious to see what kind of weight they add to the nose
  17. Couldn't have said it better myself, definitely a message that needs to get out there
  18. At least they put the fire out before it hit the back tires, makes life easy easier
  19. I used to think the post office drivers where bad, but the Amazon drivers end up in some places that make the post office look like amateurs in the getting stuck business
  20. I added a set of hood springs from a late 60's mustang to keep my lines in check. They were a hell of a lot cheaper than the ITD set, mostly because we had a set sitting on a shelf that we probably bought 40 years ago lol.
  21. I cannot wait to see her in the company "uniform". Best of luck with her
