  1. Tow truck driver dies after crashing onto a golf course in Camarillo CAMARILLO, Calif. - A tow truck driver was killed after he lost control of his truck, and drove down an embankment near the Las Posas Country Club. It happened ten minutes before 8:00 p.m. Thursday night, on Fairway Drive just north of Deseo Drive. The California Highway Patrol does not know why the driver lost control of his vehicle. He wa towing another semi-truck at the time of the crash. The driver has been identified as 31 year old Romeo Marquez from Panorama City. The Ventura County Fire Department said the passenger suffered minor injuries, and was not transported for any injuries. This crash happened around the same time as another fatal crash nearly six miles away in the Oxnard Plains.
  2. Drag racer “Big Daddy” Don Garlits has set more than a few records throughout his decades-long racing career. The 87-year-old hopes that he can capture one more next week. Garlits will be looking to break the 200 mph barrier in a battery-powered dragster on July 20 at Palm Beach International Raceway on its quarter-mile drag strip. He had previously made it to 200 mph in a Top Fuel dragster. This won’t be the first time he’s gone for a record since retiring. Garlits, who is widely considered to be one of the most important pioneers and innovators of drag racing, set a world record with a 7.25-second pass at 185.6 mph in an electric dragster in 2014. He was 82 at the time. The Florida resident has been a major figure in drag racing for decades, having captured 17 World Championship titles and coming away with victories in 144 national events. He was the first dragster ever to top a number of different speeds, including 270 mph. His Swamp Rat 30 dragster is enshrined at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. He will attempt to set the record during the IHRA Summit SuperSeries bracket racing on July 20. He will make several attempts. Tickets to attend are $10 and free for kids 12 and under. 3. Wow, glad to read the Road Ranger Driver was just bumped and bruised. Sadly, we read that the Driver of vehicle that struck the service truck died and the passenger is in critical condition. The Road Ranger was changing a tire and his truck had an active arrow board including cones sat out. It just never ends, in fact the number of incidents seems to be increasing. Or we are just seeing more and more stories then ever before. Because more is being reported. There are also numerous officers vehicles which have been struck as of late. Might need to start copying those over from Officer . com
  4. I so want the names of these company vehicles in violation of Slow Down Move Over. I want to send their companies a copy of this video. In hopes they have a safety director that could review the danger with their drivers. It's bad enough that a 4 wheeler does not respect the emergency vehicle. But when a commercial driver does it, that uncalled for and call needs to be made to there company. How can we as an industry get this word out to trucking companies so they are fully aware of our dangers and their drivers are a contributing factor?
  5. Sounds great, the challenge is for recoveries. Save some really good general hook ups and later this year will do something with loading roll calls, carriers and tilt trays.
  6. Interesting, I placed this is the list as a light duty entry. However, I need a truck hooked up to the bike in the images to qualify. it seems that isn't stated in the rules. We wanted few rules.
  7. Likely one of the bots found your post associated with the name and/or email in your account. If you want to opt out of that, then I can turn it off on your account. It's an app we're using and just one of the new features credited to the New Force in the Towing Industry. Just something we're trying out. You'll find this kind of thing all over the board along with feeds from websites, blogs, youtube, etc. @ChuckTWT
  8. How to Enter to Win: Each Light Duty Recovery Topic a member creates from July 1, 2019 to October 1, 2019 which includes a minimum of 4 images and a minimum of one paragraph narrative describing the recovery and even what equipment equipment was used will be entered into this drawing. The more topics a member creates the better their odds are of winning. Yes, you can stack the deck Towing & Recovery Topics which lead to constructive discussion were the norm for many years on social media as relates to the message board. On other forms of social media today there are images without a narrative or even a dialog. The dialog we do see is reminiscent of the early days of Tow41. Today, we seek to bring back constructive discussion and also avoid the good job type responses the members complained about in the early days of the Towing Information Network. Topics can be created in Light Duty & Carrier Recoveries. These need to be actual recoveries and not just regular hooks or what is on the truck type images. Those can be posted in Light Duty & Carrier Towing, these are Recoveries. Here is a Bonus for those who will be participating: Simply add a reply in this topic and receive an additional entry with your first recovery topic. TowForce reserves the right to extend this promotion through 100 entries. 9. Thank you MarcRowan, you are now number 3 in the drawing. The more qualifying recovery topics you create, the better your odds. Oh, wait a minute I am being told that it's not longer politically correct and if we cannot give everyone a prize then don't do it. In checking, their are no PC Police on TowForce. Not many grammar police either, that's Facebook. We know what you meant here.
  10. Is anyone still having problems uploading images. KatKiller (Chris) is constantly working to make this community more user friendly. However, we know there are going to be issues which arise. A new bug occurred last week in the store. If you paid by card, it may not have gone through and the Patron/Sponsor status may not have shown. Let us know so we can fix it. Thanks
  11. 18 months into the new system and I now see life coming back. Well we do see many more members from Tow411 returning. Best of all we see many members we have never seen before. A Semi Annual Rollcall will begin this Monday, I can hardly wait.
  12. Waiting patiently for another Heavy Duty Recovery Entry. Hard to believe so few want a more than $1100 Light Bar. A decade ago and there would have been a dozen or two recoveries posted. It need not be a resent recovery as long as it has not been posted before then it qualifies. Yes, it needs a minimum of 1 paragraph narrative. That can be taken from the invoice. Yes, I have had those who asked if a narrative was really necessary. When i suggested they copy the narrative from the invoice. The response is, we don't include a description or narrative in our invoice.
  13. This video is presented for discussion into methods used to negotiate traffic when responding to a Breakdown or Accident Scene. As well as the level of urgency of an accident with multiple lanes blocked compared to slowed traffic. Note: there maybe an underlying reason the horn was used in this manner. I will add that information as the discussion progresses along with my own responses to the orginal post found on FB.
  14. Beginning July 1st there will be a Light Duty Recovery Topic Challenge similar to the current Heavy Duty Recovery Topic Challenge which began June 1st. This drawing will be for one of these NEW TowMate TM- FLUX Light Bars. Watch for details in the next couple of days and Good Luck.
  15. Tucson police have arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed two men earlier this month. Justin Lang, 32, was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of two counts of manslaughter. He was located at a home near East 30th Street and South Marc Drive, near East Golf Links and Pantano roads, Tucson police said in a news release. On the night of June 10, Lang was allegedly driving eastbound on West Simmons Road at a high rate of speed when police say he crashed into a tow truck and the two men in a Discount Tire parking lot at 3760 N. Oracle Rd., near West Prince Road. Ramon Murillo, 32, and Richard Struble, 57, were both killed. Struble was a tow truck driver dropping off Murillo's car, police said. Lang is accused of fleeing the scene on foot. He has been booked into the Pima County Jail and is being held on a $1 million bond. Lang previously served time in prison for aggravated assault, auto theft and a drug violation, according to court records
  16. Condolences to the Family, Friends and Co-Workers. Such a tragic work place accident, please Owners review this with your employees and Drivers review this with your co-workers. This type of event it seems occurs in our industry at least once a year on average. I have to admit in my youth I made poor decisions and lucked out. Never Ever Get Behind a vehicle in an attempt to stop it from rolling the outcome is often like trying to beat a train across the tracks. Don't Do It, nothing is worth more than your life. 17. Answers found on FB: JS said: You need one that they integrate in your truck so it sends live footage to your home computer or office Them sd cameras get stolen lol
  18. To be honest I am giving serious thought to doing a video challenge as to what we carry. It would be much like the one Trent at Plaza Towing did a few weeks back. That video can be found in the "As Seen on Youtube" forum. I know that mine is likely to draw some comments as I have nearly doubled what I regularly carry over the past few months. Got tired of going to the truck every time I needed something. LOL This Trekz Headset works at a distance of at least an average of 40 feet from the source. So, I can leave the phone in the truck walk away and still be connected. It makes a noise out of distance and I just walk back in range. Generally I tell whoever is on the other end their going to loose me for a minute and I'll be back. When I step back in range their still there. Most of these headsets are like this however a few are not. Make sure the one you purchase stays on, does anyone have one that cuts off. I had a Jawbone ear piece that would turn off out of range. What is everyone currently using and add a picture if you can...
  19. First is is not a topic about Team Headsets. This discussion is about bluetooth headsets that are used for extended periods. You listen to your music on them and answer your phone. The common Trucking Industry Type Headset work well for Truckers. But, are Tow Truck Operators Truckers. Not really the Tow Truck operator needs to be able to hear sounds, the ability to hear sounds in both ears and even talk on the phone at the same time is crucial. Check these out, About 6 months ago Kat Killer got me the AfterShock Trekz by Titanium. I have to say for me they are great. Do all headsets work for everyone, of course not. However these are not an in the ear type headset so you find yourself wearing them more. But, be warned they look kinda cyborg. I'll take that over the Trucker Image any day. Do they work in a high noise environment. I do not have experience in an industrial setting. I do know, Roadside they work very well. That's Trekz by Titanium. The come in several colors, I have the slate gray as pictured above.
  20. This was a memory that lives on in Ricks Showroom and now on TowForce. @someotherplace there is a Like button in this new system. Try It... @DAVIDV440 It's been more than a couple of years now. Still Got that 1970 Dodge?
