  2. I think you may have it! I thought that unit was familiar. Years ago, there was a Readybuilt wrecker around here. I can't find any photos, but it looked a lot like this unit.
  3. Tonight I had a special request from an Emeryville police officer. A woman had lost her keys in the storm drain at Target in Emeryville. He called his dispatch to call us to see if we could help her. I drove to the scene and saw the woman standing at the back of her car looking sad. The officer came out of his cruiser to greet me and was so happy I was sent out to his call. He thought of me when he faced this situation. It is nice when someone places their trust in you. Anyway, you can see in the pictures we do all kinds of things sometimes.

  7. A mother has detailed the upsetting experience when her car was towed at a Melbourne hospital, despite only being three minutes late to leave. Katie says she was at the hospital, while her husband was having emergency surgery, when the incident occured. She also says she challenged the fine with evidence of the visit to the hospital. “Seven weeks later, City of Melbourne Council got back to me and said that they will not refund the money,” she told Jacqui Felgate. Krystal shared a similar story when a tow truck driver towed her car, despite her getting back to her car two minutes before the cut-off time. “We said to him ‘Hang on, it’s not even five o’clock yet.’ And he just basically said ‘Too bad’,” she said. 16. First, getting the vehicle out of the space is just a challenge the right tow operator will accept. Next, Property Damage? I wonder what kind of experience this person has with towing vehicles. Lastly, they should not have parked in the driveway. I would probably put a sign. Parking $100 A Day. Start Article: 'I arrived home and found someone parked in my drive - so I made sure to ruin their weekend' One homeowner made sure to enact revenge when an "entitled" guest of one of their neighbours parked in their driveway and refused to move when asked, leading to dramatic consequences. Neighbourhood parking can be a tricky balancing act - and it's usually good manners to tell your neighbours if you are having a party and that the street may get a little busy. However, one homeowner arrived home one day to find that a neighbours guest was parked in her driveway. When the guest refused to move their car, they made sure they got their revenge. “Someone on our block was having a large party and someone decided they were entitled to park in my driveway,” the homeowner explained on Reddit. “Keep in mind my driveway is a single car width lined with a retaining wall on both sides and a garage at the end. Essentially impossible for a tow truck to come pull them out without property damage.” There was very little the homeowner could do, as there was very limited parking in the area. So, they did what was really the only option open to them, and parked in their own driveway directly behind the guest's parked car. The “entitled driver” knocked on the homeowner’s door a few hours later “demanding” that they move their car, and the homeowner refused. “Seeing as they were demanding, I informed them that I had been drinking and would not move my car.” The guest then called the police, but the police could do nothing to solve the issue. “I had informed him that after I got home I was unwinding and had been drinking and was in no shape to drive." “At this point their hands were tied because they couldn’t tow her car out, I’m in no shape to drive, and I’m legally parked in my driveway.” Taking the revenge to the next level, they then said they would not be driving for the entire bank holiday weekend, so the entitled guest would have to wait until Tuesday to pick up their car. Many found the tale hilarious while others thought they stooped a little bit too low. "Things like this make me step back and try to wrap my head around the reality that some people really are that selfish and entitled," one said. Another added "Nice work, OP. I applaud your pettiness." RESOURCE LINK
  17. Chaos ensued on a Georgia interstate late Sunday after an SUV collided with a tow truck, causing injuries to three individuals. The incident, which took place on Interstate 75 North near Windy Hill Road in Cobb County, drew response from local authorities as they seek to piece together the events that led up to the crash. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, a disabled Mercedes occupied the right shoulder as preparations were in motion for its recovery. It was during this vulnerable moment that a GMC Yukon, reportedly swerving out of its lane, rammed into the tow truck that was positioned behind the Mercedes. The impact forced the tow truck into the Mercedes, thrusting it forward, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. The collision occurred at approximately 11:17 p.m. on May 5. Atlanta News First reports that the driver and passenger of the Mercedes were standing outside their vehicle and were struck in the collision. The driver of the disabled car sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Yukon's driver, along with the Mercedes passenger, were also injured and required hospitalization. Miraculously, the tow truck driver emerged from the wreckage unharmed. The Cobb County Police Department's STEP Unit has taken the reigns of the investigation to determine the specifics of why the Yukon driver lost control. As of now, no additional details have been disclosed, leaving unanswered questions in the wake of the incident according to Atlanta News First. RESOURCE LINK
  18. Congrats, would like to make the trip down there again. But, it isn't likely the happen this year.
  19. I'm thinking about making my way there this year. Is anyone else going?
  20. There are a number or laws in the Motor Vehicle Code Article 75. https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/LI/consCheck.cfm?txtType=HTM&ttl=75&div=0&chpt=37 Sub chapter 37 "Miscellaneous Provisions" has most of the accident related issues. Here is the Towing & Storage act which they passed a few years back... https://casetext.com/statute/pennsylvania-statutes/statutes-unconsolidated/title-73-ps-trade-and-commerce/chapter-28b-towing-and-towing-storage-facility-standards-act The problem is, this has some pretty broad strokes in it and was obviously driven by the insurance industry. The reality of it though is that there is no governing body in the state that is in control of enforcement of the act. So actually, you could tell them to pound sand and there isn't anyone that is going to do anything about it. In court, I'm sure the judge would give it some weight though. Good luck.
  21. I have done a lot of "Reverse Rolls" with a wrecker....the problem here is he was running the rope against the body & chassis which is a big "No-No" in my book. I'll admit, it's very quick, it always works & it was how I was taught 40 years ago but I have a lot more respect for my rope then that now. I would use loop straps against the body to do the procedure now. If you miss something or the casualty slides/moves and damages a strap, not that big of a deal.
  22. They made some progress on it today... Removed the tool boxs to install the Aluminum dress up plates on the front...we've had them since new & never got them on. This will make it easier to paint the chassis as well. The wheels got dropped off tonight to the "Polisher". Ordered new Synthetic rope for it for when it goes back together.
