  1. Dave, while I do agree with you. I have found that it is difficult in some markets to hit the ground running and succeed without some Motor Club work in your profile. This is work that the established companies in those market have often shed. While more than half of all new towing companies fail within the first 3 years. Those who have a plan have more success even with the motor clubs in their mix. Starting out they may have as much as 80% of their business from Motor Clubs. While at the end of 3 years unless they are say AAA preferred and only conduct AAA service calls. The Motor Club portion of their business will have dropped to nearly 50%. If the company has chased their tail, I mean worked their tails off and make it past 3 years the road should make it possible to chose only profitable calls. Getting into any business is an investment, anyone that thinks they are going to show a serious profit or any profit the first year getting into the wrong industry. Those kind of start ups are rare, I know plenty of companies with 3 or more years that are still struggling to hold on even with fewer employees and no replacement trucks. The ability to maintain, add on or replace equipment after 3 years is key.

Also, congrats on Winning the TowMate TM-FLUX Wireless Tow Light this week.

  2. Notice I did not say I need this toy. But, I see using it as a camper. Then switching the camper out for a recovery unit or dump body, etc. Yeah, I know it's like those buying that 100Ton it would just sit there more and using it. But, when I did use it the rewards would be great......

  3. A member recently inquired as to how many members were authorized to access the Club Level Forums. So, I thought it might serve as a good topic to list each forum and the number of members with access to those forums.

Owners Den - 89 Members (Confirmed Owner & Supporter Status Required)

Drivers Lounge - 25 Members ( Current Driver Status Confirmation)

Tow411 Alley - 44 Members (Past or Current Supporter Status Required)

WreckMaster - 18 Members (Current WreckMaster Status Confirmation)

RBU "Recovery Billing Unlimited" - 5 Members (Current RBU Attendance Status Confirmation)

Let me know if you qualify for and would like access to any of these Club Level Forums.

Should you have any questions just ask as these should not be considered elite forums.

they are simply like any private group on FB which require permission to access. Thanks

  5. Over and Over I see Tow Operators asking the same question. What Work Boots are the Best.

Since these topics just repeat themselves over and over on FB I thought one topic of reference could be created here.

Possibly we could even conduct a TowForce Work Boot Top Ten List. Now of course we could not expect the list to carry much weight but it would be a good post to reference rather than seeing the same question over and over.

List of Work Boots Towers have suggested:

    5.11 - Ariats - Bates - Boggs - Carhart - CAT - Carolina - Chippewa - Danners - Georgia - Irish Setter -

    Justin - Keen - Magnum - Reebok - - Red Wings - Rocky - Throughgood - Timberland - Wolverine

Other sites detail their top ten lists.

  6. That's my only issue with the Renegade is the boom needs a little more reach. It always seems to be 6 inches to a foot too short.

And keep those male part comments to yourself, I hear them every time I say the boom is a little too short.

And Yes the unit could certainly handle the added length. How you get it is the mechanical engineers problem.

  7. Still Illegal in most states under very old laws. Not all judges rule the same, just because one judge states it can be beaten in court. That does not mean the person and company violating the law will not incur legal expenses to fight it in court. Does anyone think a government agency is going to cover those costs or even show up to provide contributing evidence. If you do then you have not faced similar situations and heard crickets.

Curious, if anyone here has past experience which the Tow Operator and Company had to incur the cost of an attorney because they were not protected from prosecution over something law enforcement requested.

  8. Check the Laws in your state regarding transportation of a corpse. Law Enforcement says if they order the transport then the tow operator is released from any legal ramifications. However, the tow operator does not get that in writing. My fear is that after the fact if some concerned party should protest this type of transport which may be unlawful "Who does this fall back on?"

  9. While this is likely a scrap hauler we do not differentiate when a Tow Truck is involved. Anyone that is injured or killed in the operation of a Tow Truck is a tower. This serves  as a reminder to each and everyone of us as too the dangers a tow operator/wrecker driver face each and every day.. We must stress to everyone in the industry the dangers as we all can see how this could have if one placed themselves in this situation. Dump Truck drivers as well as mechanics have done this as well, even though they all know the dangers. Our thoughts will be with those grieving this evening!

  10. I will say we have never before had as many Women of Towing involved in the message board as we do now. They are a TowForce themselves and I am glad to see so many now joining the WTRAA. If your a Women in the Towing & Recovery Industry and you would like more information on being a part of this Women's Association please add your response here to learn more. If your already a part of WTRAA please introduce yourself to those Women that may not have all the information about what WTRAA is and what the association does.

  11. These Parole Boards as well as Judges need to do some serious soul searching as they seek to release these killers after serving less than half their term. To have such disregard for the victims family is unforgivable. Many of these Parole Boards refer to the incarcerates family as the Victim. No, they can visit their family member and that member can speak with them. The true victims can visit there loved one and speak to them without hearing their voice or seeing their face. Let her ROT in prison, she not only struck and killed a Tow Operator, She drug him to his death. I have no forgiveness for her, she went way past my ability to forgiven. I can only hope that this Tow Operators Widow has found her own peace and this injustice has not caused excessive mental stress. Our Thoughts are with her as she goes through these emotions again.
