An earlier decision to release her from only serving 7-years of a 20-year sentence was re-voted and overturned after being convicted of the 2011 dragging death Colorado tow operator Allen Rose. During the process of early review, it was determined that the parole board failed to notify Rose's widow of the intent to release early. Farries will remain in prison and continue her incarceration until the next parole hearing is held. https://www.krdo.com/news/top-stories/detra-farries-convicted-in-the-dragging-death-of-a-tow-truck-driver-will-r…

One person has serious injuries after a crash involving a semi tanker hauling human waste, an SUV and a truck towing an RV near the intersection of Weld County Roads 74 and 31 on Tuesday afternoon, Colorado State Patrol spokesman Sgt. The RV it was towing lay on its side across Weld 74, blocking the entire road. Perpendicular to the RV lay the semi tanker, flipped on its side, the top of its cabin ripped off, its engine block twisted and unrecognizable. CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) – A judge has significantly reduced the seriousness of the charges a truck driver faces over the death of a Colorado State Patrol trooper. Noe Gamez-Ruiz was set to go on trial for a third time after two mistrials were declared, but that may change now that he faces only a misdemeanor charge instead of a felony charge. Trooper Cody Donahue died in November 2016 after being hit by a semi-trailer driven by Noe Gamez-Ruiz on Interstate 25 near the Tomah exit close to Castle Rock. Donahue was standing in the shoulder of the highway filling out a crash report when he was struck. Gamez-Ruiz was charged with criminally negligent …

EAGLE COUNTY — Snow storms on Vail Pass often result in accidents. One crash Sunday afternoon could have been much, much worse. About midafternoon, a westbound vehicle lost control on Vail Pass, bounced off a concrete barrier and ended up in a snow drift on the right side of the road. The first emergency vehicle on scene was driven by a member of the Colorado Department of Transportation Safety Patrol. The driver of that vehicle pulled over and got out to check on the passengers in the first car. The safety vehicle's emergency lights were flashing, indicating that drivers should pull into the left lane. This is when things get scary. According to Jake Best …

Out on Las Vegas Street near the El Paso County jail, razor wire surrounds another secure facility. But no inmates are held here. Rather, hundreds of vehicles swept off Colorado Springs’ streets for a variety of reasons fill 18.5 acres of land. Many sit idle for months, even years, until released from evidence, or sold at auction because nobody claims them. The impound lot, run by the Colorado Springs Police Department, is also a money drain: The department lacks equipment to move vehicles within the lot, resulting in exorbitant towing bills. That, and other problems, are now receiving CSPD’s attention after the City Auditor’s Office delivered a scathing report i…

It started out as a routine call for Donnie Curnow, owner of Animas Towing in Silverton. On Wednesday afternoon, May 2, a fierce spring storm hit the high San Juans and a motorist slid off U.S. Highway 550 at mile marker 57, near Coal Bank Pass. Curnow hit the road in his 2006 Ford F450 tow truck, along with his sidekick, a pit bull named Dozer. But going into the Lime Creek curve near milemarker 60.5, Curnow’s truck began to slide. “Coming down Lime Creek, everything was fine,” Curnow said on Tuesday. “But then going around the corner, it just tried to slide. I knew I was going over the edge, so I steered into it (to avoid …
