  7. In Addition, the writers/contributors must really like this story as they shared it back in June of 3023 as well. https://www.rsvplive.ie/life/homeowner-shares-petty-revenge-after-30255511
  8. First, getting the vehicle out of the space is just a challenge the right tow operator will accept. Next, Property Damage? I wonder what kind of experience this person has with towing vehicles. Lastly, they should not have parked in the driveway. I would probably put a sign. Parking $100 A Day. Start Article: 'I arrived home and found someone parked in my drive - so I made sure to ruin their weekend' One homeowner made sure to enact revenge when an "entitled" guest of one of their neighbours parked in their driveway and refused to move when asked, leading to dramatic consequences. Neighbourhood parking can be a tricky balancing act - and it's usually good manners to tell your neighbours if you are having a party and that the street may get a little busy. However, one homeowner arrived home one day to find that a neighbours guest was parked in her driveway. When the guest refused to move their car, they made sure they got their revenge. “Someone on our block was having a large party and someone decided they were entitled to park in my driveway,” the homeowner explained on Reddit. “Keep in mind my driveway is a single car width lined with a retaining wall on both sides and a garage at the end. Essentially impossible for a tow truck to come pull them out without property damage.” There was very little the homeowner could do, as there was very limited parking in the area. So, they did what was really the only option open to them, and parked in their own driveway directly behind the guest's parked car. The “entitled driver” knocked on the homeowner’s door a few hours later “demanding” that they move their car, and the homeowner refused. “Seeing as they were demanding, I informed them that I had been drinking and would not move my car.” The guest then called the police, but the police could do nothing to solve the issue. “I had informed him that after I got home I was unwinding and had been drinking and was in no shape to drive." “At this point their hands were tied because they couldn’t tow her car out, I’m in no shape to drive, and I’m legally parked in my driveway.” Taking the revenge to the next level, they then said they would not be driving for the entire bank holiday weekend, so the entitled guest would have to wait until Tuesday to pick up their car. Many found the tale hilarious while others thought they stooped a little bit too low. "Things like this make me step back and try to wrap my head around the reality that some people really are that selfish and entitled," one said. Another added "Nice work, OP. I applaud your pettiness." RESOURCE LINK
  9. Chaos ensued on a Georgia interstate late Sunday after an SUV collided with a tow truck, causing injuries to three individuals. The incident, which took place on Interstate 75 North near Windy Hill Road in Cobb County, drew response from local authorities as they seek to piece together the events that led up to the crash. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, a disabled Mercedes occupied the right shoulder as preparations were in motion for its recovery. It was during this vulnerable moment that a GMC Yukon, reportedly swerving out of its lane, rammed into the tow truck that was positioned behind the Mercedes. The impact forced the tow truck into the Mercedes, thrusting it forward, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. The collision occurred at approximately 11:17 p.m. on May 5. Atlanta News First reports that the driver and passenger of the Mercedes were standing outside their vehicle and were struck in the collision. The driver of the disabled car sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Yukon's driver, along with the Mercedes passenger, were also injured and required hospitalization. Miraculously, the tow truck driver emerged from the wreckage unharmed. The Cobb County Police Department's STEP Unit has taken the reigns of the investigation to determine the specifics of why the Yukon driver lost control. As of now, no additional details have been disclosed, leaving unanswered questions in the wake of the incident according to Atlanta News First. RESOURCE LINK
  10. Congrats, would like to make the trip down there again. But, it isn't likely the happen this year.
  11. I'm thinking about making my way there this year. Is anyone else going?
  12. There are a number or laws in the Motor Vehicle Code Article 75. https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/LI/consCheck.cfm?txtType=HTM&ttl=75&div=0&chpt=37 Sub chapter 37 "Miscellaneous Provisions" has most of the accident related issues. Here is the Towing & Storage act which they passed a few years back... https://casetext.com/statute/pennsylvania-statutes/statutes-unconsolidated/title-73-ps-trade-and-commerce/chapter-28b-towing-and-towing-storage-facility-standards-act The problem is, this has some pretty broad strokes in it and was obviously driven by the insurance industry. The reality of it though is that there is no governing body in the state that is in control of enforcement of the act. So actually, you could tell them to pound sand and there isn't anyone that is going to do anything about it. In court, I'm sure the judge would give it some weight though. Good luck.
  13. I have done a lot of "Reverse Rolls" with a wrecker....the problem here is he was running the rope against the body & chassis which is a big "No-No" in my book. I'll admit, it's very quick, it always works & it was how I was taught 40 years ago but I have a lot more respect for my rope then that now. I would use loop straps against the body to do the procedure now. If you miss something or the casualty slides/moves and damages a strap, not that big of a deal.
  14. They made some progress on it today... Removed the tool boxs to install the Aluminum dress up plates on the front...we've had them since new & never got them on. This will make it easier to paint the chassis as well. The wheels got dropped off tonight to the "Polisher". Ordered new Synthetic rope for it for when it goes back together.

  17. Does anyone have any resources for towing and storage laws/regulations in pennsylvania? Attempting to do some research on the topic and there doesn't seem to be too much that is easily accessible. The only storage citing I see are that Pennsylvania has a maximum of $25/day unless the municipality has set other rates.
  18. I know this is an old thread from back in February but, 1: The cost is whatever you are comfortable with. If you wish to set a reserve on these vehicles you may, be aware though that most of the time these vehicles were abandoned for a reason and most likely not worth much. We try to get more than scrap out of every vehicle we can but more often than not its about the same. 2: The titles will be a Certificate of Salvage and be branded Formerly Abandoned. These can still be rebuilt via enhanced inspection. Special note: these titles are transferable and I would advise you to transfer the title legally prior to releasing the vehicle to a buyer that has plans of repairing the vehicle. Once its off the lot it's still considered your vehicle and will be seen as such legally. A certificate of salvage does not require a notary when being sold to a salvage dealer.
  19. The Saint John Police Force will focus on the province’s “Slow Down, Move Over” law this week. It is the latest in a series of traffic enforcement campaigns the police force is undertaking this year. “The focus of the campaign will be to promote safety for all emergency and service personnel through education and enforcement,” police said in a news release. In New Brunswick, drivers must slow down to one-half the posted speed limit whenever passing an emergency or service vehicle stopped on the road with its lights flashing, and move over away from the vehicle. If there are two or more lanes of traffic, drivers must move into another lane, if it can be done safely. Authorized service vehicles include tow trucks, a private or public utility corporation vehicle, or a road safety or maintenance vehicle. The fine for not slowing down and moving over is $292.50 and three demerit points. Police said the campaign will run from Monday through Friday. RESOURCE LINK
  20. Shop decided they wanted to freshen my 550 up so it came apart on Saturday. This truck was bought from a dealer spec when we needed another wrecker quickly and trucks weren't available. We always planned to paint it our colors and the typical stuff we do but never got to it so we'll do it all now... This truck is our only "Gasser" and my daily driver. I have been very happy on how it performs & runs. This will get the fender flares door handles painted. We will shoot the wrecker unit our grey color since it came black. The wheel lift is scratched all up from using it anyway. The wheels were removed to be sent out and buffed. It has the coated wheels from Ford but they have been messed up in spots since new and it's frustrating that you can't get them nice. My grandson that just turned 16 has been put in charge of this project by my son. He wants him to learn what needs to be done to keep them nice and get involved with the "Refurbishment" division of our company since it's the fastest growing aspect that we do. I'll post some pics as we go along....
