  1. I had been selling my junk to an old timer who has been coming around for years so I didnt have to deal with it. Now, I sell the cats, rotors, aluminum, and batteries separate. Then I went to a local scrap yard and got a dumpster type container from him for the other junk. When it is full, I take it in, he dumps it and pays me by the pound and I have only moved the junk once. Making out much better, kind of feel sorry for the old timer but he made a ton off me over the years
  2. Was hoping to see the AMX. Had one back in the day, with a little work they would RUN
  3. Fast acting and good judgement, He is an asset to his company and the towing industry. Good job
  4. If you not familiar with Cat prices some of them are through the roof. I just got 300 for a set of cats I took off a 5.4 triton ford. 6.0 chevy truck cats are bringing 500 from the guy who takes mine. He has a book with the serial numbers for cats and a price for each. sometimes hard to read the serial numbers on them..............i didnt even know they had them until I got hooked up with this guy
  5. I hate those aluminum wheels in general. Any sign of corrosion when I take the wheel off and I take the scotch pad wheel to it an remove all the corrosion and check the hub mounting surface, it gets caked up on the steel as well. you have to torque them to spec, I have seen the air guns split those rims at the lug nut as well when overtightened. I had one come just about off on a good customers years ago, thankfully it did give him some warning and he pulled over and called me. It still make a customer think you didn't tighten them
  6. Glad on one was hurt. That is gonna be one hell of an insurance claim stay safe
  7. We got our fair share of "lick em and stick em" guys down here too. Family and Friends can be the worst customers over inspections. I have two family members I haven't talked to in years over inspection
  8. I bet that one took a while to untangle from the guard rails.
  9. WOW, This is posted under Insurance Safety and Training. I cant believe this guy has any of those three things
  10. Love them old trucks. First tractor trailer I drove was an old Brockway with a set of clubs and an air starter, no power steering. THAT was a truck!! I would like to get a B model Mack with a set of clubs and a wrecker body on it.
  11. Nice easy money maker for the holidays.....Had three calls last night after midnight, all out of my area so I didn't send a guy out. We get the same rusting thing in NE Pa. Hard to tell how bad they are at inspection time too, then this ends up happening on one good pothole. We have plenty of those too!! When I do shoot one down for inspection the owners are never happy Starting to snow here again in the NY snow belt, up to 2 feet forecasted in persistent snow bands
  12. Guys Had a call a couple weeks ago for a 4wd pick up with the front end tore up and missing wheels. I carry skates but I got the impression this one was gonna be a pain to load on the bed and get back off. I had replaced the floors in my snowmobile trailer a while back and I had a couples of pieces of the ski runner protectors left and happened to look at them and the light went off. They are about 10 inched wide, thin but strong and slippery as hell. They worked great, I had a couple of short pieces and some full lengths. I am going to cut the full length ones down to about two feet and carry 10-12 inch pieces. They will come in useful and take up no room at all basically to store Stay Safe
  13. Those little trucks can do amazing things with the right operator. Was out your way in Canadensis the other night Stay Safe
  14. Gotta love the winter time I broke away to come up to NY, was hard to walk away. I have a guy who can handle basic work but I wont be able to take anything too far off the road till I get back but I needed a break
  15. UPS has helpers down here but I haven't seen any on the fed ex trucks around here. The Pro Masters are terrible for traction all the way around from what I have seen of them
  16. The driver apparently quit and got a ride home from there. The owner came out with another driver totally frustrated. The other driver he brought to drive the van said that they should just wait at the mailboxes and call the people to come and get the packages, which sounds good BUT, if they did that they would not get half as many stops in a day and they cant get enough help as it is and they are paying pretty good. I don't know what the answer is but I still cant believe he got that far up. Got a club call on the way in so it was a good day. Stay Safe
  17. I got a call Saturday night for a stuck delivery van on a private road going up the side of a mountain to three homes. There are two switch backs to this road to lessen the grade. The driver did not make it to the first switch back. I was able to back up the hill to get to him without chaining up. Took a little to get the wrecker to sit still but I was able to spin him around so he was able to drive right out. As usual, I forgot to take pictures. Sunday afternoon, just before dark, I got called to go back to the same road to get another van that had gotten stuck on the same road. This guy made up to the second switch back and got stuck on the turn, slid down off the side of the road. By the time I got there it was well after dark, this time I took a helper, Cinders, and Salt. On the way there I got a call from the customer who told me the driver abandoned the vehicle and the keys were to be on the seat, thankfully they were when I finally got to it. This time, I could not see anything from the road so we hoofed it up road on foot to see what we were up against, had to be over a half mile to it. The 34 year old kid was huffing and puffing harder than I was!! After the first switch back, the road got narrower and there was no way I was going to back up to it. Chained up the wrecker and on the fourth attempt I was able to get up hill of the van. I was just about ready to call the shop and get the plow sent out to me. Once I got there, had the helper get out and get some cinders down so the truck would sit still. Once we got to that point I still could not winch anything or I would have slide the wrecker. Ended up running the boom high and strung a cable off the right side out to a tree up hill about 100 feet to hold the wrecker in place. Then we were able to work on getting the van back on the road. After we got the back end slide over, I remembered pictures so I had my helper take a few. They don't really show how steep it was and in one of them you can make out the line I ran out ahead of me to hole the truck in place. We had to back both units out the whole way. All said and done it was a good job.
  18. Deer hits are the life blood of the body shops around here
  19. I had to go back and watch a second time before I wrote this. "I didn't get nothing" changes my opinion of this guy. The guys does a good deed and then is standing there with his hand out, so to speak. Sometimes you do what is right, just because it is the right thing to do. To post this video is disgusting to me
  20. Good Looking Truck, Good Luck with it. Stay Safe
  21. Good Work, we got about 17 inches here in NE pa. I have to remember to take pictures. I got three yesterday and one today, 3 of 4 had slid off a driveway and up against a fence. If is stays cold, I am sure there will be more to come, delivery vans trying to get in driveways that were not cleared wide enough
  22. LOL, I think we have all been there, but if the son had to call the dad, there would be a lot of ball busting, at least in my family!! My dad still throws up stuff I did from 30 years ago LOL. But, I am glad he is still here to do it!
  23. Truck looks great. I love to see when an old truck is brought back to life. We are in the "Jack pot zone" for this storm according what to my wife's reading on the internet. Guess I will be breaking out the chains...................and all the snowmobiles are in NY stay safe
