  1. We had a body to pick up for a refurbish project the shop was working on in the Lancaster PA area. We received a call for an SUV in Allentown coming back to our town with nobody coming with it. Rob took a set of dollies with him and headed for the body...

Then stopped on the way back for a Nissan...

  2. Got a call from the Control Center for "Medium sized Uhaul truck" that was wrecked. Not knowing what I was going for, I opted to head with a heavy just in case...

We got on scene where I had to back down in to a small cul-de-sac to find a 10 footer on some rocks... The officer said he thought it might need the big truck to lift it off of there.

    20230916_132339.thumb.jpg.643fda78f2e19995b5a9f424b75c7a18.jpg

Turned up it was involved in a chase, reported stolen, and then the operator became combative with officers...

    20230916_132738.thumb.jpg.9417e1a0b19e0b31549f63b192aab85a.jpg

Lifted it up in the air and the tires started spinning...here it sat there in gear, running. As I lifted it, I found it had another surprise I wasn't aware of. Apparently he "popped" up when he hit the big rock and landed on a well casing which got caught up in the frame...

Quick easy job...when I got back to the shop with it, I discovered a possible explanation for the poor judgement calls of the operator....

  3. I always felt adamant to tech my kids, and now grand kids, to treat your possessions with care and take pride in their appearance...

  4. One of my testimonials is at the beginning of this topic so I don't know how much more I can say. The "Proof is in the Pudding" they say...and folks can look at the dozens of jobs I have posted on this board showing clean up jobs...both small & large. We look at the potential of each & every job that comes in, and act accordingly. I'm not trying to brag, but all of my primary trucks are within 4 years old, all of our clean up equipment is new/late model and everything is kept at the 100% level. It's easier when my goals changed from trying to do every call out there and push for more & more volume, to concerning myself with only doing premium paying jobs and making the most out of each situation. I don't have the call volume I did...but I also don't have trucks with 200, 300 or 400,000 miles on them either. I don't have as much staff as I did...but my guys make more now then they ever have. I was in business for 15 years prior to the class and it always seemed like I was stuck in the "million a year club", no matter how hard I tried. Now we do 2-3 times that with less overhead & nicer equipment. I'm not giving them all the credit for the advancement but it's certainly a valuable tool that we used to restructure the way we look at business. Honestly, I could probably double that number if I wanted to be more aggressive but I'm pretty content where we are now.

In closing, there is a tremendous amount of value in the teachings if you work it and allow yourself to change where needed and stop diminishing your own value. There are a lot of professions in this world that work hard and display talent...but not many that have the dangers & risks that we endure on a daily basis. Learn to reward yourself and your people for those risks...and back it up with the proper revenue to finance it!

  5. I'm frustrated over the show schedule but will be there. I wanted to bring 2 new Light/Medium duty's down but it doesn't look like the one will be done in time. So we figured we would bring the new 550 down anyway. But now we find out that the truck has to be removed from the hall by 8:00 Saturday night? That blows...what do I do with it then? I really don't want to have to find street parking along with all of the other contestants....nor am I excited to leave a $200,000 light duty out in the city overnight. Unless everyone is just going home on Saturday?

I guess it was the same last year as well? We didn't bring anything down last year and only stayed over Friday night.

    Either way...I'll be there.

Freakin Black Widow spiders in the chassis of the coach...this created some "drama" around the shop for a while...LoL

Harmonic balancer broke off the crank shaft....So I had to re-hook the next morning and towed it to the Peterbilt dealer. Truck is a 22 w/ 50k on it so still under warranty.

  8. Had a call come through the other day for "3 15 year old kids on dirt bikes got hit by a car"...Place was hopping so we scrambled to get equipment heading there. Ends up being 3 kids were on 1 electric motor scooter that got hit by a car when they were messing around in the road...

Don't suppose anyone will be coming back for this...

Fortunately this had full coverage. The kids were all transported (1 flown) to trauma centers for non life threatening injuries. One of my techs saw these kids racing around on the main road as he was returning from lunch not 10 min prior to this crash.

Thought you were die hard Ford!  Nice ride.

Thanks. Honestly I like all cars and I tend to gravitate to cars of my history. My Dad had a 67 Plymouth when I was little, and I always liked the looks of that car. When I found this one, it was priced right...and the grandkids get such a kick out of the convertibles. My dog loves it too!
