  1. We do a lot for our community wherever we can. Here are a couple ways from the last week...

Sponsored a Charity Golf Tournament for our local Police Association that Eddie & my Top Tech Anthony participated in as well...

National Night Out the other night where we donated a bunch of bicycles...

Boy Scouts doing a fund raiser to repair a local Church's playground. We promoted it on our page and then took a wrecker down to get cleaned up!

We have always found that comes back as a benefit multiple times over when you help the community.

I like the looks of where Ed is lifting his better then some of the ones I did already

On the Jerr-Dan, this is a large, solid crossmember in the sub frame and the forks fit right in it...like it was made for it...LoL. But you obviously need a heavy to have the reach to lift it there.

  3. The Jerr-Dans can be towed from the rear legs if you don't have the reach. I did many like this with my 12 ton Cougar. I recommend inspecting the legs carefully for cracks though. Also the carriage bolts that attach them sometimes rot off but the head will still be there in the hole. Just make sure it's got integrity before you lift from it.

On a smaller chassis, this probably wouldn't be a good idea. This F650 thought it was the biggest truck in the barn and handled exceptionally well. As for the 4wd...as long as you have the transmission in park & it rolls (in 2wd) I wouldn't see it as a problem.

  4. We always get a number of camper trailer moves this time of year for miscellaneous reasons. This was the second one of this day, the 1st being a move on property.,..

Customer's truck broke dawn and needed to get this to their dealer. We typically use one of our shop trucks with a 5th wheel hitch but we sold it so we use Eddie's wrecker to move them now. We have a new shop truck in the works that will again allow us to do them with a P/up truck but in the mean time...this gets it done.

  5. A buddy of mine has a new F600 as well and his impound fence swung in to the door damaging it. We repaired the door and painted it...and did his flares & handles as well. We ordered new handles for a Lariat figuring they would look factory. I didn't realize the Lariat handles don't have a key lock cylinder in them so we couldn't use them...ended up just sanding & painting them.

Always like to ask the question about "what is going on?" Just to give me an idea of can I rear tow it or not?

I agree George...and like I said, the Fleet Management company said hard starting and problem going 30mph. We had the truck in a couple weeks ago for a brake problem and found the driver doesn't "Habla" very good... We typically drop the pig coming in to the shop to save space so I figured I would drop it at the store instead of dropping the shaft. We are replacing the rear this week, then I guess we can look at a possible running issue if there is one.

I would of rather rear towed the rolloff but that rear ICC bumper was junk and so was the rear crossmamber. They ran the wire harness for the tail lights along the front edge so it would of been an issue to tow it from there. It was an easy shaft anyway...

Ed do you charge more for the skid steer and sweeper or is it the same clean up fee just makes it quicker for you?
    As always nice job!
Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

We charge for the Skid Steer, the sweeper and it's transportation...all on a 4hr min for large incidents. I don't send it on every job but if I know we will have a decent size mess, it's going.

  8. This is the 4th or 5th truck wreck we have had in this intersection...the trucks turn left heading for the interstate and they must think they have the right a way and turn in front of southbound vehicles. It came in as car versus tractor trailer w/ a large spill so we headed with the Calvary...It was after hours but fortunately a few of my guys were still at the shop and we still had everything on scene in 15 min....

Traffic was making it's way around the incident and had tracked the spill all through the intersection. We brought the sweeper there which makes quick work of a dozen bags of absorbent.

It ripped the steer axle out of it on the right side so we had to secure it back in place to tow it...

Once it was secure, I backed the unit through the intersection to get pointed the right way. Everybody loaded up and we roll out as a team...

Overall it was a nice little job. It makes it worth while to have the support equipment for stuff like this.

Flatbed getting towed for a supposed running problem... I dropped the pig at the store and rear towed it soI didn't have to pull the shaft. Got back to the shop, dropped in the yard and it wouldn't move? Had to put the power divider in to drive it...pulled the axles and the front rear is blown. Glad I rear towed...

  10. I verified coverage today and an adjuster is coming to inspect the casualty. We should be ok

I based this job around the property damage to increase my chances of compensation...sometimes you just have to do the job to the best of your ability and then worry about figuring a way to get paid after completion. Leaving a mess like this made would have repercussions long after this truck is settled...
