The old girl getting it done. The only thing I would do different is don't "Reeve" the chain through the tow hooks. Better to make it in a V bridal.

I agree, after the start of the lift I thought the same thing altho it did work out in our favor this time as it lifted the truck up at a slant to match the ground slope. Next time I will rig separate loops.

  2. I have been in business for over 30 years, dealt with Cross Country on a c card basis, had so many after hours out of area calls (I'm on an island that is ferry serviced only, no bridge so out of area is a day round trip), waking me up (owner/operator/dispatcher/truck washer/bill collector all in one) so I signed up briefly (apron 45 days) with them twice over the years to hopefully curb the 50 to 1 ratio of out of area calls. That did not make a lick of difference & all it did was create a billing/collecting nightmare. They would call me for a member on the side of the road at 3 am out of my area, then call me back an hour later with the same dispatch info, they are very out of touch with efficiency & obviously no human involvement in correcting the situation as its been that way for years. I have all of their incoming phone #'s saved in my phone & block them when I go to bed & on snow days. I have been taking & running card up front quoting them 1.5 times my retail rate as it usually takes 5 phone calls & 30 minutes overall average dealing with their poor dispatching info & mess of accurate job description plus the member is usually pissed off when I arrive as they have been sitting on the side of the road for 4 hrs because of AGREROS  lack of proffessionalism. I have been called by the member due to AGERO making them sit for hours broke down, quoted a price to them of lets say regular retail of $200, the member calls AGERO saying that we can do the service giving AGERO my phone #, AGERO supervisor calls me, I quote $300 to them & I have been lectured/bitched out demanding that I can't charge AGERO a different rate than a retail customer, end call & block #.

  3. On the morning of Jan 3rd 2022 we had some black ice, a Z3 came around a downhill turn catching the ice & jumped the railing. Being on an island in a very rural area we only recently have had guard rails installed but I have had this plan in my head & practiced it with a single wrecker in similar lift & swing recovery situations before. 2 trucks, both Chevron 408's, one at each end rigged wide for control/stability at the control arms front & rear, booms out, lift, drive trucks forward while cranking the wheels of the tow trucks away from each other, lower the car onto the road. Front & rear bumper covers were already damaged upon arrival so no worries of scratching them during the recovery.

    Wow that's a cool job.

Recovering with our helicopter would have been cooler!

You mean you didnt just drag it across the side of the building, Taking the gutter, soffit and half the roof with it, Let it slam down onto the ground Then drag it up onto a rollback / flatbed upside down, Throw a ratchet strap over the middle of it and off you go?? ( I have been watching too many of the local fly-by-night bozos lately I think...)

Seriously, Another Excellent, well thought out, Tricky recovery executed by some real pros..

    Great work Guys !!

Again a great job for our new helicopter.

Depending on the particular model / year Huey, She can externally carry around 5,000 lbs give or take which is pretty impressive for a relatively small, 2 rotor bladed bird. Now, if we could only get our hands on a Chinook...

Ok so 1/2 ton pickups & passenger cars then!

  7. Was called by the local Sheriffs Office for a truck rollover into a building. Arrived to find a Ford Lightning that had lost traction, fishtailed in the rain & went over a retaining wall endo-ing landing on a roof of a local jam & jelly business roof. Only damage to building was gutter & ding in metal roofing. F450/Chevron 408 up on the road with a high line for lift assist off the roof & a low lines to drag away from roof. F550/Chevron 408 behind truck with Cruse Loop through cab doors run under bed for lift & another line to a nearby tree/strap/snatchblock back to the truck drivers rear wheel for spinning truck sideways away from roof once bed was lifted off roof. Pictures were taken by passerby's so I do not have anything after the initial lift & spin. Winched up out of the hole it was in & rolled over in business parking lot, truck was not driven away;)

  8. I had a call for a Mini that had rolled backwards over a small embankment coming to rest on a rock retaining wall/railroad tie steps. This needed a lift & roll forward rather than a drag to prevent any undercarriage/fuel tank damage from the rocks. I was in my F550/Chevron 408 independent, I called my Son in Law to assist in my F450/Chevron 408 Integrated for lift to both sides of the car as I didnt feel I could do this efficiently with 1 truck. We rigged to both rear wheel hubs with straps & a 3rd line from the 550 to a tree/chain/snatchblock then back to the front of the Mini for a forward pull. We left the Mini in park as we lifted the rear then winched it forward using the 3rd line while following with the lift to the rear. No damage to car, customer drove it away under its own power.  Thanks to the admin here for the extra picture capacity:)
