  1. Thank you Marshal, I will place a special discount code in a pm in a few days to be used prior to the end of September.

NEXT, we desperately need new supporters. Really wish I didn't need to say that, but funds are low and the rainy day is empty. It lasted well over a year till it ran out about 6 months ago. I hate there have been no shows this year, hoping by next year the funds are there for as many as possible to make the show once again. We really need that structure in the industry. Thanks Again for the continued support, you may never know how valued our supporter have been over the many years.

  2. Dave, I have heard the with some brands. We got some off brand from Home Depot that had issues. But, overall with a good set they are better than not having them. Or at least if you don't repack the bearing routinely. Since we don't have a garage I can do that in and must request it to be done. The covers with grease zerks work well.

  3. Dave, Looking Good! As much as you use dollies have you thought about adding grease caps? It's the best thing I ever did, no more having to repack them. The only things to be re-mindful of with grease caps is to keep grease in them and be mindful of how much grease is being put in them. Also, there are numerous manufacturers out now and last week I got a new set of dollies with shorter caps. I think I like them better. I know the caps that seal inside the brim do not come of as easy when using them and are cheaper to replace.

  4. OK, it's not easy to get together on these drawings. I'm working longer hours and school is back in. Youth Church started back in full session tonight and WOW was it a full house. I do not recall the last time I saw such a line of cars dropping off Middle & High School Age Youth. This is Good for both the Spirit and Soul. Hope those of you will Youth are able to get them back into society. How we need all sports to start back up. Our Children are better prepared now then we ever were to protect themselves from such viruses. Now on to the drawing!

A 28-year-old Cumberland woman was sentenced to serve 90 days at the Adult Correctional Institutions and 21 months in home confinement after she pleaded no contest to leaving the scene of a crash that seriously injured a tow-truck driver in 2019, according to Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha.

Emily Lowe drove away after striking the AAA tow-truck driver at about 2:30 a.m. on June 30, 2019, according to Neronha and the Woonsocket police. The driver was putting a disabled vehicle on his flatbed tow truck in the breakdown lane of Diamond Hill Road in Woonsocket, according to Neronha.

Hit from behind, the driver, Kenneth Young of West Warwick, suffered multiple broken bones, according to information from Neronha and the Woonsocket police. The tow truck had its flashing lights on.

After the Woonsocket police issued an alert, Cumberland police officers found Lowe’s damaged car at a McDonald’s restaurant several miles away, at a shopping plaza at 1754 Mendon Rd., law enforcement officials said. The vehicle had heavy front-end damage, according to the police.

Investigators were able to tie the car, which was registered to Lowe, to the crash using DNA evidence, Neronha said. Several days after the crash, a witness told the Woonsocket police that Lowe had been driving the vehicle and acknowledged picking up Lowe at the McDonald’s on the night of the crash.

The Woonsocket police obtained an arrest warrant for Lowe on July 22, 2019, and she was arrested four days later at an impound yard where her vehicle had been stored, the police said.

On Monday, Superior Court Judge Maureen B. Keough sentenced Lowe to five years at the Adult Correctional Institutions with two years to serve and the balance suspended with probation.

Lowe will serve 90 days at the ACI followed by 21 months in home confinement, Neronha said. The court also ordered that she lose her license for one year and complete 100 hours of community service.

Officer Jason Berthelette of the Woonsocket Police Department led the investigation. Assistant Attorney General Jay Sullivan prosecuted the case.

  6. Were those the ones that one side was clear and the other amber. There were a few back in the Sixties that ran them like that around here. I remember seeing them back in the Seventies. A the Mickey Mouse Look began to fade away there were fewer in the Eighties. They were great out in the rural areas, not so much in town as it's hard to determine where the light is coming from in town compared to strobes. On the Expressway they can be dangerous unless combined with other lights. Bugs & Drunks Loved them, so why were there not more tow truck struck. Oh, there likely was but we never heard about it. Most companies kept it to themselves back in the day, much like they were wrecker drivers killed which took years to find when the Wall of the Fallen was created.

  8. When you live in the state of Kentucky you see the Kentucky Derby as a big deal. I suppose it's no different living in Indiana and the Indy 500 or Daytona and the Daytona 500 as a big deal. I know there are other big events in other states those are just to two that come to mind quickly.

Today they chose the field for the running of the OAKS a day many locals go to the track. Sure is a quiet week around here with no fans. Protesters are set to march on the track Derby Day. Not sure what the horses ever did to them that Churchill Downs has been labeled as racist by at least one group.

I think it's just an easy target with a long history. That do not realize the diversity of employment the track has seen for decades.

  9. A little more than 2 1/2 years ago a goal of 6000 members in 3 years was set. we are 1 day from 6 months and nearly 1200 members away from reaching this goal.

I asked those who have been lurking and yes there are quite a few of you. Please take a moment to register as a TowForce member. Registering is easy and there are numerous options to make that process much easier.

Today we have 4,811 members you can make that 6000 members by March 1, 2021

  10. ‘Move-Over’ law operation Monday on Ben White Blvd emphasizing tow trucks

AUSTIN (KXAN) — From 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday, be on the lookout for a tow truck along Ben White Boulevard, and make sure to move over or slow down for it.

The Austin Police Department is conducting an operation to enforce the “Move-Over” law that requires drivers to either move over a lane away from responding emergency vehicles (including tow trucks) or slow down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit.

APD says research from the American Automobile Association says a tow truck operator is killed once every six days responding to disabled vehicles along roadways, and just recently a tow truck operator was killed on Interstate 35 in Kyle.

A highway enforcement detective and officers working overtime are carrying out the operation, APD says. APD is partnering with A&A Wrecker and Recovery, who donated the use of a tow truck and disabled vehicle.

The goal of the operation is to “bring awareness to the law and encourage compliance in the future,” APD says.

Emergency crews responded to the scene on Front Road late Saturday evening. The road was closed throughout the night but reopened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the driver, with two passengers on board, may have suffered a medical emergency losing control of the vehicle which left the road, striking the house.

There were two people in the home at the time of the collision.

RCMP have yet to confirm the details and the identities of the deceased.

It’s with very heavy hearts we post today that we lost one of our drivers yesterday in the line of duty. He suffered medical conditions which caused the deck truck he was driving to leave the road and crash into a house. Tragically a lady in the residence at the time also passed away. We cannot begin to express our sympathy to both families at this very, very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers also go out to our customers that were riding in our truck back to the dealership with their disabled vehicle. It is a tragedy for all involved.

Our Condolences and apologies for the delay is posting this information. Additional details were only made available today.

  12. OK, so we can acknowledge something went wrong. There are pieces missing we need to see the video from the tow truck drivers cell phone. Obviously he was capturing this on his own camera. What I find disturbing is the driver rushing up on the CAA Member. What Prompted that out of control reaction. I feel something transpired during this tow, either with the driver towing the vehicle or the driver transporting the 3 women. No I am not going to say Black women as that should not have been an issue. Obviously the woman felt it was and is attempting to build a narrative on it.

Hopefully we can follow up on this as a training opportunity.

  13. The story is like someone simply through it together with very little research into the details. Had it been better reported a conclusion could be decisive. Without further details this is all we have to go on.

    1) the CAA contractor was dispatched to a stranded motorist.

    2) Due to Covid following.as policy set by CAA the stranded motorist needed to find transportation.

    3) It seems due to the location the CAA contractor sent a second truck to transport the motorist to a location they could get a ride.

    4) We can assume the CAA Member demanded the Tow Operator cover the cost of transportation and refuse to except the ride.

    5) Just what escalated this Tow Truck Operator to rspond in such a manner is not clear as he was not interviewed or declined.

In Closing: This is an issue with lack of Customer Relations Training in this Industry. This is not the fault of the Tow Operator we must discuss how to deescalate such situations with Tow Truck Operators. Otherwise we are sending them into to situations they are not prepared to deal with. I often forget they Tow Operators do not have my many years and numerous situation to fall back on. Number One you cannot let anyone get to you or under your skin.

My motto is: "Patience is a Virtue"

Perhaps we have a member than has those missing details.

  14. Heavy Wind Damage seems to be what Hurricane Laura Delivered. However, the Storm Surge does seem to have materialized as was being projected. Could it have been that the Storm came in at Low Tide. I am not a weather buff, though I was very curious about this storm as it heads in our direction. I have PTSD in relation to Flooding having been through the Tropical Storms which followed to Hurricanes. That was a primary reason we moved from 325 FASL to 650 FASL, if this home floods the whole town is gone.

So, we keep those in this storms path in our thoughts as the flooding will be real. We're seeing images of the gulf shore, what's the storm doing that we are not seeing. If your being impacted please advise.

Shame this rain couldn't make it's way over California and put out the wild fires.
