A crash on U.S. Highway 70 seriously injured one person and sent a tow truck into a building Friday morning. The State Highway Patrol said a pickup truck ran a stop sign in Princeton and clipped the tow truck. The pickup truck ran off the road and into a ditch. This roll back was one of those vehicles involved in a crash. Before 9 a.m., a tow truck hydroplaned and struck the concrete median barrier on I 40 near Rock Quarry Road. ELKIN, N.C. — Benny Sprinkle - A tow truck operator was hit and killed on Saturday night, according to Surry County emergency officials. Surry County Emergency Medical Services director John Shelton said the operator was attempting to load a vehicle that had broken down. Shelton said he was hit and killed shortly before 7:30 p.m. by a driver traveling on Highway 268 Bypass West. Officials have not identified the operator. DURHAM, NC (WTVD) -- A tow truck driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday morning in east Durham on North Miami Boulevard near Robinhood Road. The crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. when a rollback wrecker driven by Danny Ray Mangum, 57, of Durham ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree.
