  1. Usually its 2 landscape stones or 2 litre bottle crates.  They center them under the car, which usually damages the rocker panels or the floor pan.  We had  stretch of 3 2020 Toyota Camrys in 1 day 2 weeks ago.  All of them were within a 5 mile circle of each other.

  2. Just wanted to cover this subject here.   It will be the topic of our weekly safety meeting.

Today we recieved a call to recover a pickup truck that was in the rear of a residence against an above ground pool. I decided to take our Jerr Dan Cougar as it was unclear from the customer how far off the driveway it was.

So, once I arrived, the customer told me the details: the truck would not start, they called for a tow, a wheelift arrived, hooked up, ( obviously, NO SAFETY CHAINS) then proceeded out of the driveway.  There is a continuous 10° grade uphill & when the wheelift crested the grade, the Silverado got loose, careened down the driveway backwards, hit & totaled 1 car, narrowly missed the heat pump & electric service to the house & ended up approximately 135 feet in the rear of the home.  Had it no hit the pool frame, it would have continued into the woods

Thank God no one was in the driveway or the backyard of the home. No photos of the recovery, but I felt it was worth mentioning here so that other "towers" would consider this when practicing "hook & book"

  3. Thanks Grumps,  we've been using this technique for stolen wheels for years.

Recently, we purchased 2 sets of Guni wheels (both sizes) as we had a spree (15+) of wheel thefts in parking garages, usually on the upper floors.

But, neither set of Guni wheels fit the 2021 Blazer so we had to go old school with the carrier dolly system.

  4. Recieved this call yesterday morning.  The customer parked near the entrance to the hotel, (75 feet from the front door), checked in & spent the night. This is what she found in the morning!  Placed go jacks under all 4 wheels, pushed out of parking place then installed the carrier dolly system loaded & delivered to the shop. The customer was heartbroken over what happened to her new Blazer.

  5. Thanks for the info. I am trying to aquire this entire truck.  It is the first "new unit" ( the body that is)  that was purchased & used by the original owner of our company.  He often spoke of how he towed anything that came along & how great its recovery capabilities were...He drove it & parked it there in 1979...I remember it!!!

  6. The car had a crushed right quarter panel & the exhaust was wrapped around the rear end...surely totaled as it was a 91 Town Car.  I am just glad it didn't happen when anyone was around the car...could have been a real tragedy.

I LOVE my Jerr Dan "Cougar".  By far the most versatile truck I've ever used. Ever since I had the Mico brake lock installed it's a winching BEAST!

  7. Was called by a local shop for a small pickup "slightly" off the road near the cul de sac on a dead end street.  There was no mention of a tree, just unable to get out on his own.  I wonder why?  Took my carrier bed and extended it between the truck & tree, tilted the bed up & was able to winch it off the tree w/o further damage.  There was suprising little damage to the truck, but not the case with the tree.

  8. Got a call from an older gentleman this morning.

He stated that he thought his car had been stolen, called the local police, then discovered this!  Old Lincoln had jumped out of park & rolled down into a ravine behind his home.

Used 2 lines to steer it between the trees as I was unable to enter the car in th position it was in.
