EdsTowing
Had a car fire job yesterday. BMW 328xi became "fully involved" to say the least... Two Departments responded which is common during the day, they used foam due to it being a gas fire... We lifted the car to check for "Hot Spots" prior to loading it...It started smoking again by the rear tire so they blasted it again... Lots of debris and parts melted in to the asphalt that we couldn't budge. I called back for reinforcements to assist in the clean up and Eddie was already getting ready. The Calvary arrives... We were able to scrape the road with the blade as to not damage anymore of the road way. Once it was pushed in to the drainage ditch it was easier to contain & pick up... I haven't gotten the machines lettered yet but I'm working on it...LoL The Incident command thanked us for the job and we packed up to bring everything home... This was the 3rd time that day that the rollback got cleaned....A truck with a puked trans in the morning, a Moffat damaged & leaking hydraulic oil @ lunch time (I'll post that later) and then this... Now as long as his insurance is current it will make for a nice day!

Derlyn Z
Great Job on the clean up. Those cars that are burned to a crisp are always a lot of work!
EdsTowing
Let the equipment do the work...I would like to have one of these a day! Thanks for the comments.
Moose
Most of those we get either have no insurance or insurance doesn't pay. It's a party when they do and insurance wonder why the cost is what it is. If they worked these themselves and then smelled it for hours maybe they would have a change of mind. Years ago, it was load the burn out and leave the mess. That is not how it works anymore, cause it seems to we're expected to clean it up and even restore it back to the way it was prior to the damage. Fire doesn't even want to do a wash off anymore. We have to call them back. Ed, how did you handle with the foam left behind? Seems it takes much time to clear left on it's own.
EdsTowing
I spoke with the department on scene about the residue from the foam and they said to leave it. I would of liked to wash it down but it wasn't my call at that point. Honestly it just would of made for nicer pictures...LoL This one left today for like 55 Hundred...a nice reward for the effort. I agree that there are some chances you take. I asked the officer if it had insurance and he gave me the basic info which was a help. I'll admit, I got a little nervous when I did some checking the next day and found the owners home is going up for Sheriff Sale next month...and then a few more "less then stellar" information pieces but in the end, he had liability insurance,

Yea that could happen. Technically removal of it may get covered but it would be difficult. I wouldn't list anything about a "tow" if it was a Liability Only job.
