Two Bellevue police officers were assaulted Sunday morning during a confrontation over a vehicle being towed. Officers were called to an apartment building near Dundee and Dover courts around 9:30 a.m. to calm a dispute over ownership of the vehicle. When the vehicle in question was about to be towed away, several family members confronted the officers, who suffered minor injuries. One officer was taken to the Bellevue Medical Center, treated and released, while the other officer was treated at the scene. Two police cars had their windows kicked out. A tow truck driver who was on an Interstate 80 shoulder hitching up a disabled semitrailer truck was critically injured Monday when he was hit by a pickup that drifted onto the shoulder, Omaha police said. Two people who were killed when a tow truck crashed into two vehicles stopped along the Kennedy Freeway were recalled Friday evening by friends as selfless and joyful. Khalil S. Jones, 19, and Shamus D. Dean, 47, died and two other people were critically injured early Friday in Bellevue, police said. Jones was an airman from Daytona Beach, Florida, who was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. A tow truck driver who was run over on the interstate is learning to walk again after losing his foot. Larry Miller is a fighter. At 70 years old, his therapists are impressed with how quickly he's been able to recover after such a traumatic injury. In a therapy session, Miller stood on his one remaining foot. Just over two weeks ago a driver hit Miller on I-80 at Q Street.
