CALL TO ACTION TOMORROW, SATURDAY - 10.17.20:

Light Up The Sky For Fallen Tow Operators

On 10.16.20, we received the heartbreaking news that the towing industry lost yet another operator due to a motorist failing to slow down and move over.

Roberto Garcia Jr. a beloved operator from Express Towing out of Selma, CA , was assisting a motorist on the side of the freeway when another motorist failed to heed the Move Over Law and struck him.

It is our mission to promote safety and motorist awareness regarding the law. We celebrate “Move Over Day” each October with tow truck processions and events across the state, this October we cannot even do that. But we can stand together to raise awareness and let all of those connected to fallen operators that we are here for them.

We ask that this Saturday night. Wherever you are, that you help us LIGHT UP THE SKY for Roberto Garcia Jr. and for all the tow operators we have lost to these senseless tragedies.

Please get in your truck and turn on your lights at 9:00 pm Saturday Oct 17th. If you have “Slow down, move over” signage, please display it proudly. Post and send to us so we can share the message with all our members while we have this night of solidarity.

We appreciate your dedication to the towing industry. It is our sincere hope that increased awareness will result in a decreased loss of life. Thank you for serving your communities, and stay safe.

In today being, "National Slow Down Move Over Day", here's to the memory of four California tow operator's killed in shoulder related events and to the others killed in the US, Spain and Africa.

While SDMO helps to raise awareness to the motoring public, operators must be more aware of their highway presence with special focus to stay off the white-line.

Thanks Quinn for CTTA's support of SDMO.      R.
