ESC
Our crew just got wrapped up winching a tractor trailer out of the mud on Rutgers Drive in Exton. We got the call just before 6:00 pm when we were closing up the shop so Paul Jr and Bob jumped in our 2015 Dodge wrecker and Bill in the 2011. We arrived on scene within 10 minutes and found that the driver missed the turn into the Wawa and attempted to turn around in the grass. The trailer was empty and the total estimated weight was approximately 30,000 lbs. We ran a 4 part line from Bills truck to the pintle hitch on the back of the tractor. We kept the other wrecker at the rear of the trailer in case we needed a bit of added pulling power. Within a few minutes we had the tractor back on the roadway using only one small Dodge 5500 wrecker. Our crew escorted the truck to the nearest intersection and assisted in getting him turned around to get back to the Wawa. EdsTowing
Nice work. I really like to recover big stuff with a small truck...it's a great feel of accomplishment! Sometimes in this situation I like to hook into the pockets of the trailer. It would allow the tractor to turn/pivot once it comes out of the hole. just another option. I don't mess with the big stuff much, and when I saw that pintle hitch calling my name, I didnt even look for other options. Had I hooked to the trailer the tractor would have come around nicely. I appreciate the advice and will use your method next time. I love using the little truck on a big job. Its great when you see the look on the truck driver, or police officers face when you get things done. That Dodge/MPL40 combo is a winching monster for us.
