TowForce
LSP reports fatal crash in St. Landry Parish ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KALB) - The Louisiana State Police reported on Wednesday, April 3, of a fatal three-vehicle crash in St. Landry Parish which killed two people. The crash reportedly occurred early Wednesday morning on I-49, about two miles north of U.S. 167. Authorities stated that the crash claimed the lives of Janie Hobbs, 67, and Shannon Thibodeaux, 34, both of Lafayette. LSP said that their preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan with a disabled tire was parked on the shoulder of I-49 behind a tow truck. A Ford, driven Bryan Dugan, 67, of Duncan, Oklahoma, exited the lane of travel and ran into the back of the Nissan. The collision pushed the Nissan forward into the tow truck. Both the driver of the Nissan and Thibodeaux, the driver of the tow truck, were outside of their vehicles and were struck by the crash. Hobbs, who was passenger in the Nissan, along with Thibodeaux, were fatally injured and sadly passed away. The driver of the Nissan, two other passengers and Dugan were moderately injured and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities stated that charges against Dugan are still pending. This is an ongoing investigation. RESOURCE LINK Two people killed in 3-vehicle St. Landry Parish crash ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a three-vehicle fatal crash shortly after 2 a.m. today on I-49, about two miles north of US-167. James Bixler
This is heartbreaking. I pray for the loved ones of those who lost their lives. There has to be something that can be done to protect our tow operators on highways. Move Over laws only punish violators after an incident happens. It is not a good deterrent, We have to do something to protect them.
