Jerry's Garage and Wrecker Service Athens, Tn WM 030136 6/7A Jerry Riggs was the only recipient of the Tow411 Step to the Plate Award. There is not an image of the award, so I cannot add one here. I will link the topic soon. Jerry Riggs was one of the original Tow411 Gold Sponsors. Nominated and Named Tow411 Member of the Month April 2009. Riggs Sr., 77, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on February 6, 1946, a son of the late Woody & Eva Riggs. Jerry joined the USMC in 1964 where he did two tours of duty in Vietnam. Je married Patsy Vaughn in 1965 and God blessed them with their only son Jerry Jr. in 1967. Upon being discharged from the USMC he became a self-employed business owner opening Jerry's Garage & Wrecker Service in Athens, TN. He was of the Christian faith and a member of Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two sisters Velma Eaton and Wanda Webb. Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Patsy, one son and daughter-in-law Jerry Jr. & Amy Riggs, four grandchildren Kassie Mathews (Cory), Jeremy Riggs, Kaitlin Johnson (Treaver), and Kristen Riggs (Ethan Layman), three great grandchildren Everly Mathews, Camden Mathews and Analiese Johnson, special four-legged companion "Biscuit Riggs", numerous other family members, church family and a host of special friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, January 17, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street in Athens, TN. A service celebrating his life will follow the visitation time at 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening in the funeral home chapel officiated by Bro. Anthony Wynn. The interment and committal service will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Cochran Cemetery in Englewood, TN with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The procession will leave the funeral home on White Street at 10:30 AM on Thursday morning.
