TowForce
A number of dealerships have their lots blocked by gates or vehicles at night. Dropping vehicles at these dealers overnight can be an issue that can cause confusion. Having a plan for the dealerships in your area and conveying the procedures of each dealer to the driver and dispatcher is being proactive. Spoiler Alert, you may choose to watch the video first: In this video the policy holder had his vehicle towed to a dealership overnight. The vehicle was left in the dealers lot next door and the keys were later it was discovered "tow truck driver left the key on the tire and left car on the lot next door". The title of the video is "wont believe what geico tow truck driver did to my car". We all know Geico does not have Tow Truck Drivers they have Providers. However, as with many Motor Club Customers or Insurance Policy Holders they relate the Tow Truck to the Roadside Assistance Company the called rather than the Tow Truck Company. Question: Does your company have a procedure or policy in a situation such as the one in the video? There was a drop box for keys at the dealership and the keys along with a note where the vehicle was left could have been placed in the box. That alone would have avoided this type of situation. What would you have done?
Steve W
Think too many companies count on the common sense of thier drivers. May not always be the best strategy. Quote Steve W. Los Angeles, CA FSP Operator
Moose
Our Drivers know better then to drop on another property and not secure the keys properly. We've been down this road before, but I will bring it up in our next driver meeting.
silverhawk
For us to drop at dealer after hours, the owner must be present, or the dealer has okayed the unattended drop. Dropbox for keys in all cases.
