https://www.kxlf.com/news/montana-and-regional-news/officials-warn-of-tow-truck-scam-in-montana Montanans are being warned about a scam where call centers are posing as local tow truck companies. The Montana Highway Patrol recently learned of these suspected scam activities in Billings and Missoula. The scam works like this: Consumers using search engine terms such as “tow truck companies near me” find results that include sham businesses. In the Billings area, listings for “F & V Towing,” “Woods & Sons,” and “Fonnie’s Wrecker Service” appear, along with fake positive consumer reviews and photos that appear to be local brick and mortar locations fo…

On December 12, Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Taylor Gagnon was responding to a call after a Subaru hit a deer near the intersection of Love Lane and Hulbert Road in Bozeman. Trooper Gagnon called for a tow truck to move the damaged Subaru and then waited in her patrol car while the tow truck driver worked on loading it up. “At this time, I looked in my rear-view mirror and I saw headlights that were not slowing down at all. And about two seconds later, the vehicle crashed into me,” she said. Trooper Gagnon and the tow-truck driver, who was inside of the Subaru during the collision, suffered no serious injuries. BILLINGS, Mont. - Unfortunately, with families stuck at home and businesses being closed, it's not the ideal time to plan a birthday party. Luckily, local towing companies decided they wanted to help some Billings kids celebrate their special day. Several towing companies have been putting their trucks to good use by driving to birthday parties, giving gifts, honking horns, flashing their lights and wishing local Billings kiddos a happy birthday. Kris Moore, owner of Thin-Line Towing & Recovery, had the idea and says he understands it's not easy to have a birthday right now and wanted to brighten the day for those kids. …

Did you know, tow truck drivers are first responders like police, fire and EMS? And did you know, being a tow truck driver is the deadliest profession in the U.S.? On average, one tow truck driver is killed every 6 days. In the Dillard's parking lot at Rimrock Mall the community comes together to remind commuters to slow down when they see flashing lights on the side of the road. Local heroes gathered from 1-5PM where tow trucks were parked and drivers helped raise awareness to these un-sung first responders. RESOURCE LINK with video
