BRANDON, FL -- The left lane of the access ramp to the exit from northbound Interstate 75 to State Road 60 was closed for more than an hour Saturday due to a vehicle fire.

At 1:16 p.m. Feb. 23, a tow truck was transporting a vehicle when the vehicle caught fire. There were no injuries.

Disconnecting a vehicle's battery can typically solve many vehicle fire scenarios. Our policy is that drivers will disconnect a vehicle's battery when it comes into the yard for storage. And if the vehicle's hood can't be opened or the battery can't be accessed, those cars are parked in a designated area where they're parked away from the business office and other cars. This is the third vehicle fire in the last week I've heard of.     R.

I guess if you cant disconnect the battery when it gets to the yard, can you turn the headlights on to drain the battery or will that not help.
