Derlyn Z
1. Like George said watch the traffic when working along the road. You can never be alert to much when working along the road! 2. If using a rollback, do not stand directly behind the vehicle you are loading, or allow anyone else to stand back there. 3. If towing a vehicle with a wheel lift or underreach always use safety chains. 4. When performing a recovery, don't put yourself inline with the winch line in case the rigging would fail. 5. Use lots of COMMON SENSE, (If available!) LOL
rreschran
Good comments guys. From the risk management standpoint may I add ... 1. Owners ... get your operators formally trained in tow truck operations and on-highway safety 2. Know when to say "No" to avoid making a scenario or situation worse 3. One size does NOT fit all where thinking, "If it fits it ships" ... that's an accident waiting to happen 4. Don't dispatch newly hired towers to calls on the highway 5. If your state doesn't recognize tow trucks as first responders ... you're not! 1 Quote Randall C. Resch
