  1. Sometimes you just have to say no, I can't put it there! Offer to unload it in the alley and let the owner deal with it from there.

I have to question why this secondary tow was done after dark in the first place, and how the driver knew that the owner wanted it in that hole if there wasn't a conversation to that effect before the owner retreated into hiding to video tape the unloading.

It almost looks like a set up to sue for damages.

  2. I hadn't thought too much about this topic until I had the opportunity to hire a man I had known for several years. He had fallen into drug use and at the end of his prison time, asked me to help him make a new start. I agreed, and hired him to help in the shop and began training him to operate our equipment, as I really needed a second driver.

Long story short, within 3 months he was back to the drugs and causing problems in the community that I had brought him into. He's back in prison now after several run ins with the same law enforcement officers that I interact with on a daily basis.

Not sure I will ever take that risk again.

  3. In my area, they have gotten ridiculous with this. Most of the contractors around here won't run AGERO calls unless they have nothing else going. This results in Agero reaching out to non contracted towers who might be 25 to 50 miles away to do a one mile tow, and trying to pass the charges for extra mileage on to the customer. Most of the customers are smart enough to figure out what is happening and arrange their own tow with a local company. This costs them money out of pocket that they probably won't get reimbursement for, but it's less than the over mileage that AGERO would ding them for. Not to mention a shorter wait.

  4. We had a direct billing agreement with them for several years, but, as of the first of the year 2019, they no longer provide call numbers for direct calls. This applies even to their contracted towers. This probably varies depending on the region. I think each club has some latitude to set their own policy. The only way we can service AAA members who call us directly is to collect our fees from the member and suggest that they apply to their club for reimbursement.
