Félix-Antoine Leclair
When you wreck heavy truck what kind of method are you using? I towed a tanker 12 wheels 2 weeks ago and it was to heavy to lift the front all up so I tried to make a good pressure on the axle and attach that up but it slide on the side so decided to lift about 7 inches the first axle and it work but someone said that we can't to this because it's dangerous while turning on the road.. Please can someone give me some answers! thanks Felix Quote Thanks, Félix
GRUMPS The Towman
I am not quite sure I am understanding what your trying to describe. What type of tow truck do you have?? What size is your wrecker unit?? What was the weight of the truck you were trying to tow? it kinda sounds like you didnt have enough tow truck to handle what you were trying to pick. Builder 2
Take little weight off the axle and roll, if you do it right it will follow you, make wide turns. Flat tow a few every year. Sometimes I have the owner sit in the drivers seat in case of an emergency. Push air to it he can use them if something goes wrong.
Félix-Antoine Leclair
Hi have a western star with a 25 ton boom and a 3 section wheel lift the truck that I've towed weight about 15 tons I was able to lift it up but it was dangerous because I had no weight it the front of my truck (I had almost had no weight on my front wheels) So I want to know what do you do in those cases? thanks Quote Thanks, Félix
Builder 2
Try spring hanger forks, help shift some weight.
GRUMPS The Towman
If you have spring hangers grab it from there. the closer you get her in to your tail board the more weight you will keep on your nose. If your still having issues picking it then in my opinion you simply need a bigger truck. Although I loved my 25 ton I always had to remind myself that it is in fact just a 25 ton. shes a baby. If that is not a possibility then if I was you I would cry uncle and pass on the job. I would rather lose out on the job than tear up my equipment overloading it or worse causing a massive accident and possibly killing someone. I was never one to flat tow. and I most certainly wouldnt have someone riding in the towed vehicle, EVER... I personally feel it is unsafe. 1 Quote PROFESSIONAL TOWING & RECOVERY IS NOT JUST A JOB..
