Rusty Evans
Combined from several topics which were made on Tow411 in 2014: This is what we start with. been trying to purchase this for five years, finally got it Start the mount. JUSTFISHING said: All I can say is NO. Why so heavy why add all that weight , 3/16 would be fine. rustytowing said: Decking is not the right wording. This is part of sub frame. The mast bolsters and cylinders mount to the plate. In next pictures you will see the plate on the side of the frame has gussets. Not complete yet. voigt21 said: I like it! Keep the pictures coming. JerrDan John said: Going to be a great truck!! Look forward to seeing the entire build. Stapleytowin said: Its an 850 that's why so heavy hahaha thing will winch the world!! cool build.. keep the pics coming voigt21 said: It's an 850. 3/16 would not be fine. rustytowing said: getuone2x said: Nice start to a tough unit . keep the pics a rollin. rustytowing said: Moving slow but coming along! Sirknucklehead said: Very neat build, turning out to be quite impressive. I am surprised you aren't putting a third axle under it on the rear. With all that iron on the rear it's sure to be close to being overweight on a tandem by the time you get done adding sides, etc. Just my thoughts... take it for what it's worth....about .02 cents. LOL Gonna turn out to be very neat and unique truck. rustytowing said: Probably will later, although Georgia does not recognize them JerrDan John said: Looks great!! You build by the same rule as me, When in doubt, build it stout!! Keep the photos coming. rustytowing said: Boom almost complete KOENIGS said: Looking Good ! VOIGHT21 said: Is it a three stage boom? rustytowing said: Single stage . With 12 ft ext. PTO installed and working smooth. Also looking good on weight I believe. Ed Barker said: Looking good,,a lot of work there,,,I learnt years ago on a Hubbard,,never boom out under load with the external cylinder,,,I bent one all to pieces,,lol. rustytowing said: Thanks we'll keep that in mind. want2tow said: Is the tubing for boom press bend or A500 tubing? and the deck plate is it A36 steel? Lots of work building it from scratch but the good thing is you will know your truck in and out and and build it how you want not to mention pride & joy. It will be a very good machine when you finish. RobertCAdams said: I would rather build it Heavy and not have to worry about it again other than regular maintenance and grease,Than to build it light and have to repair it every time after I used it. For those that may not know,A Holmes 850 CAN AND WILL pull a house down.It doesn't stop or bypass.Something will break or the casualty will come to you. In Heavy-Duty there is no such thing as to heavy. Just Sayin' Robert JUSTFISHING said: On your cylinder floor mounts cut a heavy angle iron piece between the mounts to keep them from folding over . Not bashing just a suggestion to make your mount stronger . Getting closer Some of the boxes Sirknucklehead said: Really looking good, pretty neat build. I am surprised that you didn't add an axle to it though, seeing it's as heavy as you made it EDIT: Sorry, I just realized I already asked the axle question in an earlier post, and you answered it.... rustytowing said: Good question on weight. So far I think we are good on weight. Lets get some guesses on frt.,rear, and overall weights and we'll see what is at the end. Probably not a zack lift. Thanks Rusty malibu434 said: Nice build! Just curious as to why u mounted extension cylinder on outside as opposed to inside boom tube? Ease of maintenance? ASAPautomotive said: Looking at the way you've put her together, I'd say an NRC under-reach would be a pretty easy addition. Beautiful work. I wish I had the talent and the time... rustytowing said: #1 question The cylinder is to big to go into the ext. boom. The ext. boom is a little over 1'' thick. #2 question It will not be an NRC. We are building our own under reach that is 120'' reach and all sections will be over 5/8 thick. But will lift and tilt by boom. Wrecker44 said: What a machine! That's gonna be a beast no doubt. Fabulous work! Love the side outriggers too. Whats going behind the cab? Sleeper? Tool boxes? 750 mast LOL. rustytowing said: I will post some pic. We have been real busy but we have tested it with 44000 fully extended 12' On boom strait out past tall board with just hydr. Under reach is on and has been in operation for a while. Will pic a fully loaded large trash truck Fully extended 10' out with essss.
