A tow truck driver was struck Friday evening while responding to a disabled vehicle, according to Cleveland Police.

 

Before 9:30 p.m., a tow truck driver was responding to the scene of a crash near I-71 northbound and West 25th Street to tow a disabled vehicle when another vehicle struck the driver, Cleveland Police said.

 

No other information is available at this time, and News 5 has a crew on the scene working to learn more.

Tow truck driver struck by vehicle on Cleveland highway

 

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A person struck a tow truck driver on I-71 North near West 25th Friday night.

The driver was towing a vehicle from a prior accident when he was hit just after 9 p.m..

According to police, the vehicle took off from the scene.

The tow truck driver was taken to MetroHealth Hospital to be treated.

His condition is not known at this time.

Police are currently investigating the incident.

Tow truck driver critically hurt after being hit on Ohio interstate

 

CLEVELAND — A tow truck driver is in the hospital after being hit on Interstate 71 in Cleveland on Friday night.

 

The driver was towing a vehicle when he was hit just after 9 p.m., according to WOIO in Cleveland.

 

Police confirmed to multiple Cleveland news outlets that the driver and vehicle that hit the tow truck driver did not stay on the scene after hitting him.

 

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was taken to a nearby hospital. EMS officials told WKYC that he was in critical condition.

 

The incident remains under investigation.
