Went 100 miles west to pick this truck up. Seems the previous owner was dumping the box when the cylinders let go and bent the drive shaft.

Just I was getting done these dumps were going by on the way to a mine in Nevada. Talked to the driver who said they were 19' wide and these were the last two out of six they had done. They each had two escorts plus two DOT cars per truck.

Nah Gale its all good as long as you short chain it. My 12 ton has the sling and my 15 ton the med bar. Id rather use the sling. Well actually I would probably fork it but that is just me. I have done tons of them with a sling and have never tore a strap. Job well done sir.

can someone please explain the major differences between a medium duty tow bar and a hitch?

Med duty tow bar and a med duty truck hitch are one in the same. Just different lingo. Med duty bar or hitch is a straigh bar just like most older Hd wreckers have just a bit smaller.

As long as you "short chain" the straps and don't exceed the SWL of the chains you should be fine.....Nice job....Thanks for sharing.emoticonthumb.gif

Thank you gentlemen. I only wanted open up the discussion on sling ratings. I will be the first to admit that I used to tow like that all the time. Of course it was a 1972 F350 64" c/a with Holmes 440 and it was almost new.
