TowForce
A 61-year-old Wernersville man died in Reading Hospital after his vehicle slammed into the back of a rollback tow truck that was stopped along Route 222 in Spring Township for a roadside assistance call Sunday afternoon, officials said. Eric Olsen, 61, was pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m. by a staff physician, according to the Berks County coroner's office. He died of blunt force trauma and his death was ruled accidental. The crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on northbound Route 222 at the Mohnton exit. Police said Olsen was northbound when his vehicle swerved across two lanes and crashed into the back of the tow truck that was behind a disabled vehicle along the shoulder. Police arrived and found Olsen unresponsive inside the vehicle, which had heavy front-end damage. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital. No one else was injured. Police said witnesses described the vehicle as suddenly veering across two lanes before crashing into the truck. The coroner's office said there was no evidence to indicate Olsen suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash. RESOURCE LINK
