brian991219 Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 There is no need to hire a filing service to submit the IRS Form 2290. It can be electronically filed yourself without a service provider fee at this official IRS website https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/e-file-form-2290 This filing is required annually for trucks with a taxable gross weight rating in excess of 55,000 pounds (based on your registered weight) that do more than 5,000 miles per filing period. This is important for heavy duty tow truck owners to fully understand because not all states require a heavy duty wrecker to be registered for a weight in excess of 55,000 pounds (many allow registration for just the actual unladen weight or use of a special plate that has no weight value) OR you may have limited use of specialized heavy wreckers that fall under the less than 5,000 mile per year rule. Here is a link to the official IRS website with more information about the Form 2290 filing https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-2290 1 1 Quote
