Emergency responders to sign road clearance goal agreement Monday

JEFFERSON CITY – Various emergency response agencies and organizations will gather Monday to sign the Missouri Open Roads Agreement, a first-of-its-kind document that provides guidance to emergency responders clearing incidents from Missouri highways.

In the agreement, the agencies will adopt a goal to clear traffic incidents safely from the roadway in no more than 90 minutes from the arrival of the first responder.

A brief news conference will precede the signing of the document designed to bring awareness about the dangers emergency responders face, to highlight the Move Over law, and to kick off Crash Responder Safety Week.

The signing will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 8 at the Missouri State Highway Patrol General Headquarters in Jefferson City.

Those on hand will include Ed Hassinger, Missouri Department of Transportation Deputy Director/Chief Enginee and Colonel Eric Olson, Missouri State Highway Patrol Superintendent, along with others from the Missouri Division of Fire Safety, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Missouri Tow Truck Association.
