TowForce Posted April 10, 2023 Share Posted April 10, 2023 Fatal Accident off I-40 - Raleigh-Durham, NC. A pickup truck struck a tow truck driver off I-40 East. The driver, 38-year-old David Lefancheck, tried to hook up a vehicle to his wrecker. The accident occurred on Monday night near the Miami Boulevard exit. It was around 7:30 p.m. when 38-year-old David Lefancheck of Youngsville tried to hook up a large tow truck to his wrecker. Lefancheck was an employee of Ivey's Towing and Transport of Raleigh. He was partially standing in the roadway when an eastbound Ford F-150 struck him. Kenneth Pearce, 51, of Clayton then hit the tow truck before coming to rest. Lefancheck was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics took Pearce to Duke University Hospital for treatment of his injuries. No charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation. The accident slowed traffic on I-40 East for several hours.
