Tow Truck Drivers to pilot new visibility program for one year

Kudos for having the fortitude to fight for red and blue lighting. It would be a welcomed standard for all tow trucks.

While I do not think that today the Red & Blues makes as much difference as they did years ago when the desire turn to request. I can see that even a slight advantage kight save a life. However, we cannot forget the fact that over the past year more Law Enforcement Officers have been struck and killed compared to Tow Truck operators. So, did the Red & Blues offer more protection? as well far more Police Vehicles are now being struck, would should we make of that statistic?

 

Back to the Red & Blue, I have my reservations as to them being only rear facing. Forward facing may be an issue. They also should not be used continuously as are the ambers.
